What are all the skills books I would need to fly the Merlin effectively. There are so many skills I don't want to miss any. I'm trying to get get a one year plan set up hitting all the skills I missed. I'm going to start with the Merlin and work my way up from there.

Install Evemon and Eft. (or other similar programs)

Create your merlin fit in Eft, or find a good one from somewhere. Then use Evemon to plan out your training.

Out of curiosity, your skills look more geared up for a good fit Rifter or Slasher so why the Merlin?

Your Gunnery skills are good but tank skills (which will be shield for the Merlin) are crap so would recommend initially getting Shield Upgrades IV, and Shield Rigging III to fit a T2 tank and some Shield tank rigs.

Also, for the guns you will want either Small Blaster Specialization (for short range, high damage) or Small Railgun Specialization (for long range kiting, lower damage)

Because the Merlin is better than the Rifter and plays a different role than the Slasher, perhaps.

I'd say go for T2 small blasters first, although if you are going to spend a year training for your Merlin you might as well do rails too.

I'm not going to hand you an Evemon plan when you can come up with your own. Just think T2 blasters, core fitting, tanking, and navigation skills, thermodynamics, then spend the rest of the year getting your gunnery supports up to 5. While you are working on all that, buy yourself a few hundred of the things and go get yourself blown up so that you n learn to actually fly the thing. I learned to solo PvP in a Merlin by just setting a goal that I would get on the killboard at least once every day, one way or another. I lost a lot, but also won more than I thought I would, and came out after a couple months with much better understanding of game mechanics and what different types of ships can and can't do.

Sorry for off topic, total noob.
I don't get it. I searched for Merlin, it's a 500000 isk frigate "the best frigate of the Caldari". What's so good about it?
Maybe - after training a lot of skills, and fitting them with all the equipment, all these cheap starter ships become very good?

I wouldn't say "the best frigate," because they all have different roles, but the Merlin is a very solid combat capable ship, even with only a few days of focused skill training. Especially for solo and small gang PvP. I've used mine to take out everything from other frigates, destroyers, and cruisers, interceptors, assault ships, to battlecruisers, and I'm not some kind of elite PvPer by any means. They absolutely tear through battlecruisers, actually, unless the other guy has neuts or is a real pro at using his drones. With three of them I've taken down battleships.

A lot of the frigates are awesome. "Best" is a strong word, but a newb in a Merlin who knows what to do and has the balls to try it is a force to be reckoned with. The 500k price tag on these ships is the icing on the cake.

I'm just going to take your list and remove the ones you don't care about maxing for a Merlin, particularly. This list goes all to 4, and for most of it go to 5.

Attributes
-- You don't care about drones and leadership's not a big concern, so remapping to have all your mappable points split between Int and Perception is going to be your best bet to train stuff fast, essentially everything for T1 combat ships besides drones/leadership has one or the other as a primary skill.

Drones
Drone Interfacing... maybe.

There is no Best frigate....

Each frigate has it's good and bad points and thus gives it advantages and disadvantages.

@OP:

A year of training for just a single frigate...I think your will be done skilling WAY before that.

Thanks for all the replies sorry for the delay. I only picked the Merlin because when I originally started playing this game I picked Caldari and since then my training has been all over the place. From mining, to trading, and I did follow a Rifter guide for awhile that probably why it looks like my skills fit nicely with a Rifter. I figured I'd start with ships I could afford to loose and work my way up. I don't know if this is a good move or not but at least I got a plan. I may not max out my skills for the Merlin, but Ill get all the skills I need to at least 3 if not 4. I inputted all the skills in eve mon and it will take 90 days to get where I want to be and from there I suppose Ill start training destroyer, and cruisers. For a game that seems so simple at first is not for the feint of heart. I guess the reason I keep renewing my subscription to this game is because of the community and the fact that you can do pretty much whatever you want in this game and not get banned for it. Your really never safe, and when you haul something you're never assured it will get to its destination safely. You can literally make a living killing off other peoples ships and taking their stuff, and at the same time someone could start a corp to hunt down those same pirates and protect those who cant protect themselves. I'm not really sure if you can do this since my eve time is limited, but what little I've played and seen here on the forums it sounds like it could happen.
