Hello peeps.

Ships you recommend for advancing in mission lvls. I'm a new pilot and been doing alot of reading what people recommend.
But can only find good fits and great discussions about tech 2/named ships.

For me as a new pilot in caldari space, advancing from lv1 to lv4 what is best?

I'm looking for mainly long range ships that packs a punch. (Correct me if that as a tactic doesn't work well in any lvl)
But of course like to know what you have been using and what tactics you recommend.
(Don't limit to just Caldari ships, I'd like to know in general what is awesome and what is not)

Thanks for any answers

Depends on the weapon systems you intend to use.
Generally, the progression from lvl1 to lvl4 security missions is:

- Lvl 1: frigate or destroyer
- Lvl 2: cruiser
- Lvl 3: Battlecruiser
- Lvl 4: Battleship

I started in Minmatar space and cross trained into gallente ships at first, and extended to the other two races shortly after. So my ships were Rifter/Thrasher (lvl1), Rupture/Vexor (lvl 2), Cyclone/Hurricane (lvl 3). I will skip battleships for the moment, as I do not run missions at the moment.
So as a Caldari pilot you could go Kestrel/Corax -> Caracal -> Drake -> Raven for example, if you prefer missiles.

The question is, do you want to specialize in weapon systems, tank and hulls, or rather generalize, fly a different set of hulls from different races, use different kinds of weapon systems and tank styles? Both has pros and cons. Specializing takes less time to train, you have a specific set of skills, while generalizing allows for more versatility, but takes, depending on the skills, longer.

Not awesome but decent:
Merlin -> Moa -> Ferox -> Rokh

The time you have to get the time bonus should give you a rough idea of how difficult the mission is. I think some of the 6h lvl3 missions can cost you a battlecruiser when you have trouble killing the scrambling elite frigs in time.
Then again a big part of the money for my Rokh came from the lvl4 missions I did with my Ferox. I just stuck to missions <3h and read the mission description to make sure there are no tacklers. (My Ferox was mostly or fully t2 equipped then.)
A Rokh with MJD & rails can handle frigates quite fast from ~100km, but will lack a bit of a punch on the battleships.

edit: One downside of this progression: The Rokh is the top of the ladder for a caldari with hybrid gun skills, you might want to crosstrain for the gallente marauder at some point.

If i were to be a semi troll, i would say
Hookbill -> hookbill -> tengu -> tengu

But iinstead, i got to ask you a question : what kind of space do you plan to live in (ie, which faction space are you gonna live in) and then, what kind of ship do you want to use (missiles, hybrids, lazors, projectile) ? Being Caldari doest say anything of these questions as you can train whatever you want ....

Caldari missile ships are considers fantastic mission ships

start off in a kestrel move onto a caracal and then into a drake

a drake can quite comfortably do most level 4 missions as well albeit probably slower than a battleship can.

Other than missile ships, droneboats are quite capable of tackling most missions however the recent changes to ai made that a little harder than before.
