I dont fly this no brainer bullshit but there will come the day where you either fly it or step back from eve :) I give it 2 or 3 years
then we have it :) *ggg*

Guys. Every T3 has a counter. They're just a cruiser.

Please explain to me how they're overpowered? Versus what? Your Omen vs. my Legion? Dude! My Legion is worth 600mn isk stock! Your Omen is probably 50mn fitted with T2 everything!

You get what you pay for. Quit whining and train those T3 skills and you too can have the pleasure putting a lot of isk into one hull.

The only thing about the lines in space that I would like to see improved upon is the lines start from the first gate you jump through. Kind of odd seeing lines directly behind the gate I'm jumping through.

Well, you had better add a highslot to the Viator, Crane & Prorator. Currently, only the Prowler will be able to fit a cloak & covert cyno.

Adding this is pointless at the moment, thus giving the Minmatar Blockade runners an advantage over all the other races. Much better to have waited.

Awesome piece of work. Nice one

finally some good balancing!

WRT DSTs/BRs and the BCs:

Everything that's a "thing" in EVE, from planets to ships to trit, sits in a three level heirarchy of type (Omen), group (Cruiser), category (Ship).

The type encapsulates all the data specific to that actual thing, so every time we make a new "thing", we make a new type. At the other end of the spectrum, it's pretty rare that we have entirely new categories of thing, so the list of categories is fairly constant and caterogization serves mainly to break types up along pretty fundamental lines (a celestial is not the same thing as a module).

In between these two levels sits the groups, which end up doing a fair amount of heavy lifting as doing things "by group" gives us the ability to affect related sets of types at a nice level of granularity, ie without either special-casing per-type (which makes adding other, similar types a pain) or going up to the category level (which affects very large numbers of types in a fairly indiscriminate manner.

So, BRs and DSTs. They've always been referred to as those two separate things in their descriptions, and they serve separate roles, but previously they were all in the same group as, despite their stats being wildly different, they were sufficiently "functionally the same" to not need group-level separation.

The thing that changed in this patch is that we've made an effort to get rid of "CPU hacks" to restrict modules - the "99% reduction to CPU use of blah" that we used to kep, for example, covops cloaks or warfare links restricted to certain ships. It's a thoroughly ingenious solution to the problem that leverages our content tools to enforce restrictions without requiring new code, and thus "back in the day" was an eminently practical way to solve the problem of "not every ship should be able to warp cloaked". However, it's also somewhat hacky and unintuitive and has generally poor UX, which makes us sad.

Since this was originally done, we've gained a new tool, called "can fit to group", which allows us to tell a module which specific ship groups it can be fitted to. This is nicer and cleaner and less hacky and we generally prefer it, so in Retribution 1.1 we've made the final push to eliminate the old "99%" solution and use "can fit to group" instead.

Those of you following along at home will see where this leads us to, though: in the case of the covops cloak, for example, we want to fit to the BRs but not the DSTs, but to do that in the new system they need to be in separate groups, so they've been split thusly. The same thing happened with warfare links and battlecruisers: if they're functionally different in terms of what modules they can fit, they have to be in separate groups. In the case of T2 industrials, the distinction has always existed on paper, but now it exists in the type hierarchy as well Smile

[edit] Oh yeah, one other thing... 10 points for the first person to spot the place where this paradigm still doesn't work nicely, and 50 points for the first person to guess how we're solving that right now Cool

very interesting. also, the covert reconfiguration for T3 Cruisers? using Voodoo?

Its an immersion thing, its designed to give you a sense of where you are and where you are going to.

Considering most of this was done by one guy (at least the initial work) I think its a fantastic feature!

Did you accidentally nerf the bandwidth on the Arbitrator? It's been forever since I had one in space (been away from the game), but it seemed to be short on bandwidth now. (*hint*).

Compared to where the game was when I left it, I am delighted with the changes. The poster above who mentioned it was the little things that mattered hit the nail on the head - the interface has some very nice additions, the start trails are very cool, and it's nice to see the Prophecy is shiny again. And actually useful for something more than gas mining!

Please stop trying to turn Minmatar into another version of the Caldari. Projectile weapons are what make Minmatar unique. First we dont get a gun boat destroyer, we get a flippin missle boat. And now you blow up the Cyclone and turn it into a Missile boat. I dont mind having one or two launcher slots in a fit since i generally use them for something else anyway. But turning what was a cheap useful BC for someone with good gun skills into a worthless missle boat was just plain stupid. There are now fewer ships out there for those of us who went with Minmatar ship skills to get projectile ships. This kind of destruction of options isnt being done to any of the other races of ships. They are not putting missles on Gallente ships or projectiles on Amarr. Only the Minmatar ships are getting screwed this way.

Put guns on the Talwar and put them back on the Cyclone. Stop screwing the gun boat guys.

Cant update past 21.85MB. Tried on 4 different computers, I had the same problem with the last update, had to re-download the client manually and re-install. Loosing training time here! Last time lost 3 days, only received an apology. I have 15 accounts, if I loose time this time round I will cancel all accounts!

And this is why you make backup of eve folder day before big patch... Is much faster to copy from different hardrive then download it again from internet. Heck i got 2 laptops with eve and desktop and i still keep extra backup precisely this reason on external harddrive. Saved me redownload twice now....

Also i update machines one by one, so if first one goes crap, i can copy over from another machine and try again..

Also every experienced player know CCP´s performance on patches, put LONG skill in que before patch... Battleship:5, Carrier:5, anything that takes more then a few days...

About the magical 21.85 MB, Sounds like there might have been some problem with connection.

I agree, as minmatar player i like my projectile guns. See no reason why cyclone was changed to missile boat.

Minmatar, as a race, favor shields and projectile guns. They no longer have a t1 BC which fits that description. If I ever reactivated my main account, my main character would no longer have a ship to fly (purpose: lvl 3 missions).

Cyclone? She ain't got missile skills, and btw heavy missiles were nerfed to joke levels.
Cane? She ain't got armor skills. Yeah, I"ve tried it shield tanked--no go.
BS? She ain't got the skillz or the iskies. At least a year away from it.

I honestly don't mean this as trolling. I've enjoyed the game for 6+ years, but can't see a way to continue other than dumping a toon with 13mil sp; never gonna happen.

In addition, the Prophecy change obsoletes my Amarr toon with 6mil sp, and this here Gallente gal was obsoleted by the drone nerf.

Yes, I'd honestly like serious, useful suggestions. No need to tell me to leave, because all my accounts are already canceled. Yes, please point out how all this has increased my fun, because I don't see it.

Oh, and the Unified UI windows still don't remember position or view setting. Lost track of how many times I've bug reported that.

I totally agree with the comments about Cyclones and the Minmatar. Spent the entire life of my character training projectile weapons and now i dont have a ship to fly. Hurricane is a pale shadow and Cyclone is a missile boat now. And when are we gonna get a new destroyer thats a gun boat. Every other race got thiers and we get a pos missle boat.

I noticed that the system you are in the lines do not show up and i would imagine for good reason as you should know what system you are in right? It took me awhile to figure it out but that makes perfect sense as it should only show next route inline from current route. Don't forget how big systems are ;)

I love the new Dueling system! We really needed that. One quick suggestion.

In a crowded system like Jita, it can be hard to figure out the ship that is challenging you. It would be nice if the challenge screen showed the pilot and his current ship. A button to target the ship would also be really helpful.

Since I have gotten Retribution 1.1, I can not login. All I get is this message. If anyone has had this problem, or knows how to fix it, please tell me.

Starting in Retribution, I cannot stay logged in for more than 10 minutes without getting a Socket Closed error and disconnect. I thought it was my ISP but since then I have tried it with several computers, several different ISPs and still get this disconnect. Quite annoying. My Mumble and Teamspeak do not disconnect so I have come to the conclusion that CCP has broken something in this release. Ive been playing since 2007, so not a noob. Whats up with this?
