Just a thought.... how about Capital Rigs?

With the whole re-balancing of the battle cruisers, isn't it about time that the capital ships got their own size of rigs?

Since the small rigs are for frigates and destroyer-sized ships, mediums are for cruiser and battle cruiser sized ones, and the large is for battleships, I think that the carriers/motherships, dreadnaughts, and titans got their own size. Course, the Orca and Rorqual will be under the new rig size.

Like it.... Don't... Tell me what you think about the idea.

Simply why?

Doesn't sound like it is required, there is currently 2 sizes of ships per size of rig

Small = Frigates/Destroyers
Medium = Cruisers/BCs
Large = BS/Caps

Agree on capital rigs. Large are to cheap for capital-sized ships.
Materials for capital rigs should be primarily collected from Rogue Drones just like faction drops from other rats.

While I'm a capital pilot, and wouldn't like to pay more, this is simply true - to a degree.

The reasoning against this with two categories for each group does not work well, since the scale in cost for small and medium is there, it does not exist when you slap 3xT2 Trimark rigs on an Erebus. The decision to use T1 or T2 rigs is to make a conscious choice whether to invest into slightly more effective T2 variants, or save the isk just for the sake of cost.

I'd completely endorse the idea if it was for supercapitals only, since carriers and dreadnaughts are relatively cheap, have high insurance payout, and are more often than not T1 rigged than not *because* T2 is expensive in relation to those ship + fitting costs. But spending another 800mil on a 20-30bil SC or 80-100bil Titan is just pocket change. You don't even get to consider using T1 rigs (well, for most people heh).

Well there ya go. Meeting in the middle.

Yes, two sizes per rig size, but the super caps are specialized. I am not a cap pilot (unless you really count the Orca), but the cap pilots I do talk to seem to agree.

Also, think of the large armor rig, the Large Auxiliary Nano Pump and the Large Nanobot Accelerator rigs. They do not work with the capital repair units. They used to, but no longer.

What else of the capital-sized rigs no longer work with the Large rigs? Well, probably not many but still.
