Hi everyone,

As some of you know, I've been wanting to make a recording of the Eve Chronicles for some time now. Well, I finally went ahead and started up The Eve Reader to bring the Chronicles to the community in audio format. A big thank you goes out to CCP Eterne for answering my questions prior to completing the first recording.

Here is a brief sample made from several recordings.

All recordings can be found at The Eve Reader Website. Here are other ways you can listen to the episodes :
If you use an RSS reader, you can use the address http://www.evereader.org/?feed=rss2 to keep updated with the website.
Here is a link to iTunes as a free download.
There is also a YouTube channel that contains each episode.

If you would like to reach me, feel free to either post in this thread or send me an in-game mail. My email address is also listed on the Eve Reader website. I use @Zendane_Eve on Twitter as well.

I think it's a great idea, and this first episode is quite nice. Maybe your voice is a bit too low (in frequency, like a bass, not sure the word in english) making it a hard to understand at first, but then you get used to it and it is quite nice. :)

This reading. I like it.

A lot.

Maybe use a few different voice actors next time. Could be awesome.

Thank you for the kind words folks and I appreciate the feedback, both public and private. It's good to know that people like the work and are willing to offer suggestions for future recordings!

Regarding my voice, this is my natural speaking voice. If I changed it then I would either sound false, scare small children, or both! If you can suggest a way to make my voice clearer and easier to understand then please let me know.

Regarding multiple actors - it's a fine idea but it isn't what I had envisioned for the recordings. My goal is to create a "book on tape" style of recording of the Chronicles and these generally involve one person using different vocal inflections to let the listener know when different characters are speaking. Multiple actors also means assigning and coordinating recordings (across the world!) and is a level of complexity I'm just not able to handle yet.

I would appreciate suggestions on stories to read and of course any other feedback via these forums or email.

Thanks for your support!

The next episode is now up - Xenocracy.

For this one, I think it'll be a bit easier to tell the difference between each of the voices.

You can find it at The Eve Reader site. Your comments are appreciated!

Hi there,

this is fan-*******-tastic, I love podcasts and audiobooks, I love sci-fi and, of course, I dig Eve Online. Delivering a chronicle in a podcast format satisfies so many entertainment needs at once, I can't believe noone did this before. I guess podcasting is still quite a bit more demanding on your time than for example maintaining a blog.

You did great on The Jovian Wet Grave, I just heard that episode and can't wait to listen to Xenocracy. For episode zero I can only second Sepherim's remark about your rather low voice being more difficult to understand than other narrators' voices. But I can't suggest any remedies and I haven't listened to episode one which promises to be clearer.

Have you decided on whether you're going to continue? And if so, what's your release schedule? Once a month?

Awesome podcast!

Thank you! And yes I am continuing with this - I've already recorded one and I just need a block of time to do the editing on it. For the curious, the next one will be And to Live in Peace.

When I envisioned the project I wanted to do about three a month (that works well with my work schedule) but I don't have a set schedule for recording yet. It's both easier and harder than I thought it would be, and I'm learning more as I go. Ideally the next one will be up within a few days from now.

Also, the podcast episodes to date are now available as a free download via iTunes, so feel free to watch for it there as well!

I listened to these today, excellent job!

Multiple actors wouldn't really do much for me, and would eat up more of your time that could be spent recording. You have a good voice for this, and it's soothing enough that I can probably listen to these again while I'm trying to sleep. I hope you release more soon :)

Thank you everyone for the kind words and feedback!

Episode 2 - "And To Live In Peace" - is now available at The Eve Reader Website. It should also be available via iTunes

Also, I am very open to suggestions on which Chronicles to record. If there is a story that you feel would work well with this format, please let me know.

Enjoy!

Good stuff. You should get donations. 10mil isk sent.

My main feedback would be to slow the pace of your reading down a bit and try a few variations on dramatic pauses between events/paragraphcs/etc.
