Lost training time

As has happened to me twice while I have been in Afghanistan, I have lost training time. Now, it was not due to not paying my internet bill, our just forgetting to update my training for two days, but due to;

The first, my company banning anything dealing with Eve, either the game .exe or even sites with the word "eve" in the address

The second, an 8000 lbs bomb going off outside my base and damaging my computer to the point where it finally stopped work in December.

Now I've been told to "plan my training better", but these unexpected accounts occured without warning so planning was impossible. These are also legitimate accounts where I missed 30 plus days of training so retrieval of missed training points should have been without question. The problem is, the first account, did go smooth in regards to point recovery, but the second time was not so smooth. A policy needs to be implemented where skill point recover is not so difficult. I am paying my bill, and would have been playing, updating training, but on both accounts Eve access was denied to me. I would expect when I asked for my skill points for the GM to see that I'd been off for a while and request a reasonable explanation. There are others whom I have met during the war who have lost out on skill points because the were apprehensive about approching CCP with the subject or just didn't want to deal with it.

Now the problem is advertising such a policy to benefit legitmate individuals with skill point issues invites those who are unsavory or unfavorable to attempt to cheat the system. I'd hope a change to the current policy can occur which will benefit those who truly need to use it, thank you.

Dude, that's what the "Unavailable to start new skill training" checkmark in EVEMon scheduler is for.
You put the record up, look at your skill plan and add a skill that would cover your ass for the time you would be AFG.
As an ex. senior game master myself, i can tell you, that regardless of your explanation, and regradless of I trust you, or not, things that not supposed to happen, won't happen. In this case, you've had all the tools to cover your absence from the game, but you haven't used them. Instead, you pretend that you didn't know beforehand, that your access to the game would be prohibited, and asking for "policy change".

First, thank you for your dedicated service. I am greatly appreciative of those who are willing to put themselves in harms way for the safety of us all.

And while I am sure CCP is also appreciative of the service of military personel all over the world, I'm not sure they need to implement a formal policy for extended absences. For one it could be horribly abused.

Otherwise I will leave this here as the best alternate solution.

there is an easier solution:
1. rent a server in any of hosting companies
2. install EvE there
3. setup unattended control (via Teamviewer or similar)
.............
PROFIT!

Really? Unexpected? You went to a war zone (entirely voluntarily I might add) and was surprised when **** hit the fan? Boggles the mind. ShockedRollShockedShockedRollRoll

Nope this is not a case where someone should be making a reimbursement petition.

Notice how he talks about his company blocking the internet, he is over there working, not serving. He does not deserve your appreciation.

You agree to go to a warzone to get a huge paycheck, you should have expected to not have every creature comfort. Also, be greatful that the rpg/mortar/ied didnt come knocking on your front door.

A 'Company' may well refer to a military formation in this circumstance?

The presence of a 3.5 tonne bomb in his opening statement may further back up this hypothesis.

Or it may not, 3.5 tonnes is pretty ******* big.

Of course it depends on which ton you use.
Metric ton is about 3.62.
Long Ton (UK) is about 3.57.
Short Ton (US) is 4.

Oh and no.

Regardless of the nature of the OPs purpose in Afghanistan, reimbursement is not due. CCP are not at fault, outside circumstances are.

The way forward would be the CREST system. CCP have pointed out that they are considering a skill que updater from outside the client, either from the website or from a 3rd party app.

As for your 'company' banning internet access to anything EvE related, no disrespect but how is that CCPs fault? If this was WoW, would you be complaining because you were unable to attend raids or whatever? Would you expect to be reimbursed for the loot you were unable to claim?

Halliburton guys use the same bases as the military. I know lots of workers and lots of soldiers, none of the soldiers call the military a company.
