Rough ETA for summer patch 2013?

Hello.

I'm was pretty excited to read about all the upcoming changes described here.

I'd like to properly queue up my skills for the coming months in order to be eligible for the whole 6.2Mil SPs reimbursement.

Does anyone know from past experience when do 'Summer Patches' usually occur?

Well I checked here and found that:

  • The Tyrannis 2010 Summer expansion was launched May 26th.
  • The Incarna 2011 Summer expansion was launched June 21st.
  • The Inferno 2012 Summer expansion was launched April 24th.

I just hope we could get a big heads up for this.

Anything between 75-90 days would be great for a noob who still wants to squeez in as much of the other skills as possible before the patch..

1) It takes 48d to complete Dessy 5/BC5(and 4 Racial Cruiser 3) with a remap and no implants.
2) That takes you to ~Apil 1. I would be surprised if CCP patched on April Fools day.
3) Even if you don't finish, you will get partial credit.

You've got plenty of time, but you might want to get started soon. But, even if you don't finish, you're in a better position for having tried.

I've checked it in EveHQ's skill planner..

BTW, regarding what CCP Ytterbium said over here:
Battlecruisers/Destroyers aside, I currently have:
Amarr Frigate 3
Amarr Cruiser 0
Caldari Frigate 4
Caldari Cruiser 3
Gallente Frigate 3
Gallente Cruiser 0
Minmatar Frigate 3
Minmatar Cruiser 0

If I don't invest in the Amarr/Gallente/Minmatar racial ones any more,
will I still get SPs into my general allocation pool?
Or is it since I've already got some of them partially trained (namely the Frigates) - I won't be eligible for that?

No. At the moment, you would get Caldari BC 5 if you had BC 5, and only Caldari BC 5, no free SP.
You should train all 4 racial cruisers to 3 so you get all 4 racial BCs to 5 after the patch.

Only if you had no Cruisers trained at all would you get the SP for BC5 reimbursed (which would be silly) because only in that case would there not be a sensible thing to replace BC5 with.


In 99% of cases (and 100% of sensible ones), you will get exactly 0 Free SP returned to you. The whole "you'll get X million SP" is simply the amount that the number on your character sheet will change.

There is no reimbursement. The battlecruiser and destroyer skills turn into 4 racial versions just like the frigate, cruiser and battleship skills.

There is no reimbursement. The battlecruiser and destroyer skills turn into 4 racial versions just like the frigate, cruiser and battleship skills.


They will only turn into the 4 racial variants if you have the 4 cruisers and frigs at the required level, if you have 3 cruisers at 3 you get 3 racial BC skills etc.

Scammers are currently selling killrights on this toon for up to 5mil, if you have paid for this service demand your money back at once.

Killing me should be for free.

If you have the time (you'll have a much more accurate timeframe of the next expansion by the time you finish up the other skills), I would highly suggest training Command Ships.to I. Since you are already training Battlecruisers to V the longest prerequisite skill train is already finished.

The additional skills, Leadership V and Warfare Link Specialist IV, would take @ 10 days and 9 hours for a PER/WIL spec'ed character with +3 implants (like mine here). While you will not be able to use Command Ships before the change, you will be able to sit in every single one after the change.

Note: I take no responsibility for you losing expensive Command Ships before you are ready to fly them, just suggesting a time-saving technique.

Having BC 5 and Racial Cruiser 3 will transform your BC5 into the matching Racial Battle Cruiser 3 though, right? You will need to train your Racial Cruisers to 5 if you want to have your Battle Cruiser 5 to be replaced with the new Racial Battle Cruiser 5 if I understand correctly or will the Racial Battle Cruiser Cruiser skill be capped at 3 for some reason. I currently have most of the racial Frigates and Cruiser skills at 4 and am training them to 5 with the hope they transform my Destroyers and Battle Cruisers into the corresponding race's 5s.

The 4 cruiser/frigates skills to 5 and BC and Destroyers to 5 is about 3 months training at 2700SP/hr which would make it by mid May which is about when people start to consider summer's beginning.

BC 5, Racial Cruiser 3(or higher) > Racial BC 5.

Read the freaking dev blog. Or the one before it.

Plugging everything into my EveHQ, it'll take me an additional 14.5 Days to reach that, I might just try and go for it as well :)

BTW: I've noticed Spaceship Command V is also a prerequisite for Command Ships I.

That's about the time I expect the Summer expansion to come out: right in the middle of Canberran Winter. Hopefully bringing some joy into my cold grey foggy frost-covered mornings.
