Lawrance, for the most part, unless you have declared your loyalty to a particular, you will probably not find out much until after the event has occurred. If you declared for a faction involved or have a contact who has (and wants to involve you in the action), an "Actor" character will contact you with a "Call for Assistance" or similar intelligence to act on in space.

As for reporting of the events, there are two sources mainly Community News and IGS. There are some faction news feeds as well.

Or, you can also hang out in the Live Events channel. The FCORD mailing list also helps.

For knowing about live events some measure of time beforehand (depending on who you support and how the Live Event is structured), declaring loyalty to a faction is a good way to learn about it ahead of time. It's just that sometimes, ahead of time is like 20 minutes.

The rumors are true, Mercenaries allowed their brothers to take and hold critical objectives while under employment contracts with the provost and caldari military,

was the quote provided by one mercenary who was noted for taking a nap on the MCC while intense fighting was going on outside while he was on contract for the Caldari Military
