EvE is more casual than WoW.

I just want to put this out there....

EvE is more casual than WoW.

Sure I can spent 6 hours a day in both games if I had the time, but often I don't have the time.

With WoW, you have to spend a hour or two to complete all the daily missions and then spend hours to max out your daily dungeon runs to get your monies worth. Otherwise it feels like you aren't getting the most out the game. Then you get your weekly raid which usually takes a few hours and once you are in you pretty much have to sink the time into it. If you want to PvP you have to sit in queue for an hour or more and then once the map starts you have to stick with it.

But with EvE it doesn't really take that long to find someone to shoot at. Just go own to lowsec and poke around.

If you run out of time, it doesn't take that long to get to a dock to log off.

Or you could just mine for 30 minutes a day if thats all you had time for.

And it doesn't feel like you are forced to sink big amounts of time to acheive tasks. I mean there are the skill times but you don't need to be logged in for that.

The nice thing about EvE is that it doesn't force you to play long hours to get the most out of the game.

Sure the option is there to grind tasks til your eyes bleed, but its not a requirement.

Hell, you can just buy plex from CCP and sell it for isk to make up for the time you couldn't spend playing the game to make isk.

Ergo, EvE is a really casual friendly game.

just because wow forces you to do things you may or may not want to do, doesn't make it more or less casual than eve.
it just makes it frustrating to HAVE to do the same thing, over, and over.

I will simply never tire of these WoW v. Eve threads.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

So you show an example of an extremely casual player against a much more serious World of Warcraft player and conclude that EVE is a really casual friendly game? Well, it is. But I dislike the very skewed comparison. If your World of Warcraft player was logging in occasionally, not at maximum level and still puttering around sniffing the flowers you might have been closer to two equivalent players. That said - EVE doesn't have a real end-game except what you choose to make so ...

What was the point of this?

Dunno about that... there are plenty of beggars casually hanging around major "locations" in both games...

When drunk does everything seem casual. Just saying...

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

Well the thing is that once you reach level cap in WoW, the only thing in WoW that you can do is the daily quests and then the daily dungeon runs. You only get some money gear points a day and if you don't grind those dungeons you lose out in potential gear points so its basically forcing you to play about 4 hours a day to get the most out of the game.

With EvE there is no punishment for not playing 4-6 hours a day. You don't earn as much isk, but you arne't losing out of max isk. In that sense you only earn as much as you put into rather than having a daily max you must do.

[edit]

I think what I am trying to say is that there is no mechanic in EvE that punishes you for not playing X amount of hours per day.

When I play drunk I seem to wake up the next morning with less ships.

That is what I am trying to say. WoW forces you to crap. EvE just lets you do what crap you want to.

Tell you what... when you can do everything in here competently in 6 hours then you can say that EVE is casual.

If you've never tried PvP in EvE it's quite possible you've missed out on one of the greatest rushes available in modern gaming.

That is what I am trying to say. WoW forces you to crap. EvE just lets you do what crap you want to.

the difference is, wow forces you to log in and do dull activities, eve forces you to log in to manage your skill queue.
in essence they're both the exact same. eve just does it in a less obstructive way. skill queue takes but moments and isn't dull. daily quests take a chunk of your game time and are in no way fun what so ever.

it has nothing to do with casual or not.

I got a tattoo of it. I now find that I'm against CCP adding anymore content into the game... The only areas left are uh sensitive

eve has no trees

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value
