I've been having computer issues and so I've formatted once everyday or so as I try to debug. I also bought a new PC so I am formatting that.

Everytime I format I have to redownload eve which takes an hour or so over here in South Korea.

Is it possible to backup my current even instll somehow to avoid downloading it everytime i format?

I believe I clicked 'clean install files' last time i installed. Am I forced to redownload?

If so, what can I do differently next time I download to avoid having to download it the next time?

You can get the offline installer and put it on a thumb drive, so you can install it even if you format the hard drive.

I believe you can also just copy the Program Files\EVE Online folder, and it should work, but I'm not sure about that. It's better to get the offline installer and put it on a DVD or thumb drive.

A format literally unassigns every memory address on a drive (with the exception of system files for OS-based remaps), so if you kept anything on the drive after a format then your format wouldn't be doing its job properly.

The solution is to save a copy of the install file on another local drive or bit of media. Like, download the installer, burn it onto a disk or put it on a memory stick, do your format, then install off the disc instead of re-downloading the whole deal off of the internet.

You can't really avoid re-installing, but that'll at least not take you multiple hours if you already have the .exe installer on-hand.

(I am very much not asking what the hell you're doing that requires a _daily_ reformat, because I'm enjoying not being hunted by the FBI, the NSA, and Interpol, and that seems like the inevitable result of any activity that requires that level of paranoia.)

Hahaha. Thanks, the offline installer was exactly what I was looking for.

The formats are because my computer is dieing. So I am trying a variety of different things to optimize it, etc.

Had the same problem in the past. What I did was install EVE temporary on an external HDD and ran it from the external till my desktop was sorted again.
