Okay, two pages of posts and some more, and people still talk about hisec and whatnot. Like a single mention of it makes people feverish. The real question (also mentioned by OP) is why lowsec gets this treatment.

I don't know... I'm going to play devils advocate a bit here and say that lowsec is different to keep combat different. You can do anything you want in null and the only thing you have to worry about are what players bring to the field. In lowsec, you have gate guns and station guns... you have NPC stations... you have a ban on non-targeted warp interdiction and bombs. It changes the dynamic a bit and gives a significant bonus to lone wolves and small gangs, because if a bigger group comes in the smaller fish can just hang out by the guns and get them as a bonus should the larger gang try to kill them. gate to gate travel is different because you don't have to worry about bubbles, and pirates have to tank the guns. So on the bomb thing... I don't know. Personally I don't really care... they could allow bombs in lowsec and I'd be fine with that. However, I think some people that are pro-lowsec bombs think all combat in eve should be the same. I disagree. That would be boring. I like null, and I like lowsec... but I fit differently depending on where I anticipate getting killed... and that's fun.
