Upgrading my POS?

Hello,

I had a question but my search-foo has failed me... If I have an anchored POS (medium) and want to upgrade to a large do I need to un-anchor the structures and move them out or can I just leave them anchored, pull down the medium POS and anchor the large? It seems to me that this is how POS ownership is transferred. The owning corp un-anchors and the buying corp re-anchors but I don't want to be in low-sec in the process of doing this and find out that I'm wrong! Big smile

You have to take the whole thing apart, anchor the new tower and put everything back.

Non-tower structures cannot be anchored unless a tower is online, and the tower cannot be unanchored if any other structure is present and anchored. You have to unanchor averything to unanchor the tower. However, I am not actually certain you have to scoop unanchored structures to remove the tower. If all the exterior structures (guns and ecm batteries) are far enough away from the new tower (which has a bigger force field), you may be able to unanchor the non-tower structures, leave them in place, switch towers, then re-anchor everything. But you have to be quick, unanchored structures will pop eventually, I think they are subject to the same 2 hour time limit as jet cans.
