New Patch - Camera Change

So it seems after the new patch my camera automatically reorients itself everytime I select something. Very annoying. If I wanted a new angle to the camera I'd just change it myself. I don't really need EvE to do it automatically for me.

Now I'm sure some dev spent alot of time on developing this and is sufficiently proud of himself. But it really is a terrible "feature". Whoever designed it should be dragged out into the parking lot and beaten with crowbars and then left out in the Iceland cold. :-P While you are at it, do the same to their team lead for letting this crap thru. It's terrible. Just terrible. Perhaps somebody likes it, but odds are they are terrible too. At the very least there should be a clear way to disable this "brilliant feature". Doesn't seem to be an option for it in the Display & Graphics settings.

tl;dr - Get rid of the camera auto-reorientation. And i r MAD bro!

Right click the three horizontal bars in your action selection box and turn off "tracking camera"

Those work, thnx. Really wish this stuff was documented a bit better, or at least easier to find.

Dev responsible should still be beaten with crowbars, keeps them in line and is morale boost to the rest.

It was all over the patch notes. vOv

Anyways, really, learn to use this. It is to your advantage. At least, it is if you are like me and your spatial intelligence is poor. I dont need to know where I am in relation to the rest of the universe, I just need to know where I am in relation to the people I am trying to kill.

Documented... hahaha...

They rolled out a stealth patch this morning with no information. Not even a "fixes for the good of the universe" message sent.

Keeping this checked in your d-scan only is more useful than when it happens at all times in my opinion. Having it deactivated while keeping it checked in your d-scan only enables it when your d-scan is open (which is when it actually becomes useful in most cases)

So yeah, nice new feature... =)

Ahhh... it's always in the invisible unposted patch notes. Shoulda checked there first. LOL. Roll

And maybe I'm weird. I just use the overview with the camera showing about 30km distance.

Sure. Instead of assuming that you simply overlooked it,

You seem as angry as I was. u mad 2? If you are, we can be friends!

And if you have a link to the notes for this morning's patch then please, by all means, share it. Cuz it hasn't been released to the rest of us yet. And sadly the older notes don't really give any specifics in regards to the camera tracking, merely that it exists and you can disable it.

Patch notes for EVE Online: Retribution 1.0 Released on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 wrote:
    Selected Item camera tracking mode
  • When the Tracking Camera mode is selected the camera will keep both you and your selected item or target on screen
  • Via the Selected Item menu you can set the exact point on your HUD where your selected item or target will be visible
  • By default the "C key" toggles the mode on/off

Also many of us praised the addition of this feature when it was discovered on SiSi. We loved it because it makes dscan incredibly easy to use now on celestials and it's GREAT for cinematic recordings.

Moar edit: Nothing in today's patch changed the "tracking camera", you simply pressed C accidentally at some point while a text box wasn't in focus.

Pressing C never worked for me. I had this annoyance for a while, couldn't figure out how to turn it off, then one day it just....stopped.

btw. the checkbox on the dscan window and the tracking cam activated via C is not the same thing. Many think it is.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

Tracking camera STILL best decloaking buff ever.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

It is much more likely that there was a secret patch this morning that turned the autotracking camera on only for you, than it is that you accidently hit the C key. Don't let these other guys talk you out of your beliefs!
