Ok, so I'm sure this idea is completely crazy and will have huge consequences on the economy that i couldn't possibly think of but I'm going to suggest it anyway. I propose CCP builds a superhighway of jump gates that connect the major trade hubs of the other races with Jita. This could relieve the stress on Jita, therefore lowering the population. It would allow the other trade hubs to become more viable and competitive. Finally it would make travelling long distances a hell of a lot easier. Going straight from Rens to Jita? Yes please!

Wouldn't it just destroy the other hubs since everyone has even better access to Jita now

Crazy only in how often it keeps getting posted. The answer is still no.

And in about a week the prices will be roughly the same at all hubs, and the economy will suck.

Dude, they removed the superhighways on purpose. Game used to have them, long ago.

They were removed in order to make possible regional markets (Dodixie, Rens, Amarr, etc), allow lowsec routes and 0.5-sec routes in order to allow piracy and suiciding, and to spread out the population so that everyone did NOT go to Jita, cause Jita was crashing every single day.

Use your brain a little: If there's 1 jump between Dodixie and Jita and I'm 3 jumps from Dodixie, I'm not gonna go to Dodixie to sell, I'm going to go to Jita. Everybody's going to go to Jita. Superhighways have the opposite effect to what you're saying.

Is this an idea that really comes up that often? Obviously I need to read the forums more often. Fair enough, I just wanted to get an idea of what the other players thought about it. I can tell from the responses so far that most people don't seem to like this idea

N.A. has a great thread https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=195938&find=unread

It includes the option for highsec corps to build bridges as part of a plan to make highsec corps more powerful. So that people will have a reason to join and to fight for a highsec corp.

You're seeing a negative reaction because you posted purely from a PVE industry trader point of view. You want to reach Jita fast, and screw the consequences.

The game is about PVP (including piracy and your transport being vulnerable en-route to Jita), and competition in the various regional markets (rather than everyone trying to 0.01 isk in Jita). From the game's point of view, if they could put industrialists and traders in the 4 corners of the map and force them to go through 10 nullsec and 10 lowsec systems to reach Jita, they would. It's just too much work and too much complaining if they do it at this point.

Just as an FYI, we used to have such a 'Superhighway' system that connected All of the main hubs with Yulai.
It got removed back in 2005/6 if I recall correctly.

The problem was that it caused a lot of lag, as the hubs of all races got traffic into Yulai, and it also stifled gameplay in a lot of areas that no-one would go near.

Personally, as much as I liked the Yulai superhighway, it was a poor conflict driver as it was as safe as anything can be in EVE, but without providing the conflict inherent between the actions of the 4 empires in EVE.

I do miss the fights outside the Concord HQ in Yulai though Pirate

It's not only an idea that comes up often, it's an idea that CCP already tried.

Look up the history of Yulai, EVE's first trade hub.
