Working as intended

Not a bug - a feature!

But I usually kill the thread, either by the other person saying, "Hopeless talking to the idiot" or having the next questions answered before being asked.

I would prefer to think that I pre-answer future questions. Though anticipating the wrong questions may exasperate the OP as I did when I thought mAkeena was working toward RMT, it may have headed off another reader who might have thought about jumping in with the old RMT jab who had not read previous forum posts which utterly destroyed the RMT concern, at least in the minds of those smart enough to spell RMT.

I found in my military career that when briefing people several ranks above me, I would carefully tailor my statements to engender a question, that I would go on to answer. By raising a question in the mind of the briefee and answering it, I could shape the issue with the answer and keep the questioner from going into the issue to a depth where the problems might exist for which we had not come up with an answer yet. Hopefully, every project has had thorough staffing before launch. Some projects are addressing some fast moving issues and have to made up as you go. Time is always an issue, but not always a pressing issue and everybody who comes down the road and has heard the name of the project wants a briefing. I must admit, I did enjoy telling an Aide (who outranked me) to please inform the general (who waaay outranked me) that the general does not have a need to know, and who to contact to with any further questions or discussion, goodbye.

In other words, if I was briefing on a project under development and did not want to get into a lengthy discussion which often led to the briefee offering tons of suggestions we had already discarded, becasue we had been working on the issue for a good period and the briefee usually knew the name of the project and the broad view of the desired outcome. If we ever let a briefee know we did not have a firm grasp on every step, nuance and lurking variable, the briefee's aide would make a note and send out an alarm that we were in trouble and we would then be inundated with suggestions which had already been ruled out. I found that a falter or hesitation while briefing a three star could result in a week's worth of explaining to people with 2 minutes of experience on the project that we had; plugged in the computer; yes, we used parachutes; certainly, we anticipated gravity on that continent; no, we were using motorized vehicles, not horsedrawn carriages; Scuba and mini-subs wuld be a good method of approach and we will make a note of that if ever have the same project near water; and every silly idea anyone who knew about the project for three minutes had thought that fifty people working on it for the last six months might have missed.

I had an additional duty when I was a course director at the US Infantry School. Whenever Infantry branch colonels had just been promoted to generals, they came back to the Infantry School for what was referred to as "Re-Bluing" (the Infantry branch color is sky blue). During this short period, the newly minted generals were swamped in the latest information which would help them in their jobs. I can imagine that right now a three hour block of instruction has been added about having affairs with journalists who also happen to be junior officers in the Army Reserves. Anyway, I was the course director for tactics and we had the responsibility for teaching the subject at the school and developing a part of the doctrine used in combined arms warfare (using Infantry, mechanized Infantry, Airborne Infantry, special operations forces, aviation (army, air force, navy, marine, coast guard, and unmanned aerial and space assets controlled by various agencies and allies), artillery, missiles, armor, and some other stuff we had laying around - basically anything or anybody which is land, air, sea, or space based and has a military option and we could task it. I always finished off my portion by saying, "and please remember, gentlemen. the most effective question you can ask any briefer is at the end of the briefing, when you earnestly ask, "Is there anything I can do to help you succeed? No matter how brilliant you are, whatever suggestions have popped into your heads after a 15 minute briefing have already been thoroughly reviewed, and if not - you have the wrong team on the project and you will have discovered that in the quality of the overall briefing."

I understand that partial information of the previous active blink character is displayed, and this is in part the point I’m trying to make, it leaves a huge gap when the contributions of that character are not displayed, and it’s all just piled into one pool under the new active characters alias, and it can look very suspicious. Perhaps I am just thinking overly complicated, but I just thought it would make more sense if people could visually see how Joe Blow was able to get xxxxxxx bonks when only playing xx games, it’s not exactly a huge modification to just show what character won how many of the total blinks on that blink account before being disabled. It would close the gap of speculation and people crying hacks or cheats.

This was never about my comfort in playing, nor me speculating that blink’s a scam… I simply said in my very first post that the characters numbers did not work at all. After being told about the character change, I simply tried to suggest that it would be less suspicious and far less crap to deal with because of people seeing numbers on the account like I did and freaking out, to show the history for each character registered to the blink account, history defined as all the statistical data shown, just divide it between who did what and show it. Simple clean and less room for bs because there’s no gaps in the data.

You reply saying that such history could have adverse reactions because of people doing Intel espionage… My response to that is don’t blink with a character you would want to hide blinking from… As the API system has been around for a very very long time now, and so has the Intel game… one should already be accustomed to think about this kind of thing before they start doing it. But in any event, I think anyone who would reject a skilled player simply because they play blink needs to get a full time job. It should be of no concern to anybody what a person does outside the boundaries of the game.

And for those who fear having large winnings attach to them, well if blink wants to emulate the same realism as EVE and real life lotteries, some lotteries require winners to identify themselves… It begs the question, should someone with huge vast amounts of blink winnings have a security blanket of anonymity and no repercussions in game? Or should they be required to identify themselves and be subject to criminals in game, such as people whom prey on lottery winners or the rich just as happens in real life? It does add an element of balance in that the big rollers will be hunted should anyone feel motivated to try and ransom a ship or something.

In regards to strict corps, if Player A used two characters on their blink account, we’ll say “corp” and “ncorp”; where “corp” represents the character that was important and was in a strict corporation with API rules… and “ncorp” an alt later switched active on the blink account, this alt can either be on the same Eve account or not, but for worst case scenario we will say it is. We will say corp was responsible for about 25% of the statistical data shown on the account. Without that being displayed, anyone crunching the numbers will see the gap and go rabble. But if I clicked ncorp’s profile, and visually saw that corp had previously won this many blinks, lost this many blinks… etc for a combined total with ncorps to get the true number shown on the account, I wouldn’t think anything suspicious. But are you trying to tell me that corp’s corporation is going to see he has an alt for SOMER on his account and get upset? What are they worried about, “well having an alt on the account will make it easy for someone to relay sensitive information should their main be a spy”, well in that event… If they are willing to go that far to sneak secrets, they would most likely just register a second account with eve. And at the very very least, if it just came down to people being afraid of having their identity attached to a SOMER account… for ANY reason and didn't know then and wants to change it now... at least just show that there was a character registered before, show as “inactive” or something along with the ‘real’ stats that player contributed to the account. This way the numbers make sense. It may seem irrelevant, but it does help with accountability when looking at statistics.

And finally onto the Giga thing… I am well aware of how easy it is to lose a draw when you own a large investment of it, I know its sheer luck with just better chances, and I don’t take it personally… However I am interested in fair play, and by fair I only mean in a sense that more people get a chance to play, not person A having a better chance over everyone else… The Giga blinks go way too fast; they are farmed by the rich and sell out in minutes… It’s not very fun as I was trying to explain, someone who isn't scanning the board every 10 minutes may miss out. It just seems a little unfair when it’s basically turned into a game only for the rich because they can essentially buy as many tickets as they like and sell the game out before most people that have the funds to purchase a ticket even have a chance to know its active. If there was a cap limit to tickets on the Giga, it won’t sell out faster than anyone knows it’s active, and a larger variety of the community has a chance to win… let wealth go around, it’s always the same people winning everything. And before you say “yes but anyone can win with just one ticket”, the win statistics speak for themselves.

I've never blinked before and was just looking over the website when I noticed you get rewarded 150mil blink credit if you buy a 60 day GTC off shattered crystal. I've bought about 8 over the past 4 months from here and still have the reference number am I able to collect the blink credit from them?

Unfortunately, only reference numbers from purchases that went through the Blink banner are eligible, apologies.

Kind of hard to follow that mea culpa...

Congrats to all the winners this week - some really nice prizes! Thanks Somer, and all the rest of the seasons!

Once again, I had the opportunity to prove that holding the most tickets on a mini-bonk does not mean an auto win - so Players, never give up. It only takes one number to win, as long as it is the right number.

We are sliding into 550T pretty quick!

RL has over taken us here, not just shutting down the Christmas season, though that accounts for a lot of activity, but we had the extreme misfortune of losing one of the finest people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. My wife's aunt who was 94 and six months ago anyone including her doctor's would have expected many more years of good health for her but she began to experience a sharp decline in early December, and passed away peacefully during a nap with her entire family and many friends close by on January 5th. The death of everyone is inevitable and becomes more expected with age, health challenges or dangerous activities, but the actual loss is never acceptable.

Please, instead of offering us solace, go kiss your loved ones and let your friends know you appreciate them, then reflect on your life and be sure you are living it in a way which will bring you a smile when you are at the end of your life. Two hours before Mary died, she was cracking jokes. I doubt she had any reservations about the way she lived her life. She certainly inspired everyone who was fortunate enough to know her.

Whenever she sneezed and someone blessed her, she would usually reply, "Thank you - Now let the band play on!" I'm guessing that would be her wish for all of us, to let the band play on and for us to continue to seek joy without taking it from others. GodSpeed Mary.

The 550T is allmost upon us. This will be a great celebration yet again Im sure.
Sadly I wont be participating to the extent I would like to since Im currently laying in a hospital bed.
My heart condition has escalated and it's looking more and more like I'll be having surgery in a few weeks.

I would like to thank Somer, the staff and all the wonderfull blinkers I have played against.
And I want to wish everyone good luck this celebration.

Blink away my dear friends.

550t is a lot of fun so far, keep it up Somer and staff.

I joined during 450t and Blink has been good to me. I am pretty poor so I mostly play promos, or sometimes trying for achievements.

The staff are all very nice and helpful, always quick to get something figured out. ISK or ships won are delivered extremely fast.

Of course some people win a lot, but as it has been said they play a lot.

Don't bet more than you are willing to lose, the house always wins but so do us players.

Thanks for all the excitement!
