Made a mistake with some GTC

I've never bought GTC before and I heard you could turn it into 2 PLEX so I got some in Timecode Bazaar. Anyway I went to convert them in-game but then I realised the game time had been applied to my account which was not my intention.

Question is has anyone made this mistake before and do you think I could get them back into PLEX? I petitioned as soon as I figured it out but I heard some take over a week to get looked into so just wanting a heads up.

Thanks!

They may help you out but this doesn't sound like "I sold them, but i didn't wana sell em" its, i used them, but it wasn't my intention. Kinda the same thing, but i think they may be able to pull some strings. Mistakes made in-game is meant to be permanent, but i doubt that applies to subscription times. Hey, maybe you'll get lucky Cool

Yeh I just don't know the procedure to convert them to PLEX (I really should of researched it a bit more). As I said this all happened in a very short time frame so it's not like I had buyer's regret. I still want them...just as PLEX. Besides I have three accounts, if worse comes to worse and I can't, I'd be fairly satisfied to have it equally distributed among those (the game time).

Here is what I did: After buying them I went into account management, went to Trade ETC section, entered characters name in Character Buying and then claimed all three that I had bought.
How should I have done it? I couldn't find the code anywhere else.

in the game, logged in, press esc. Click on button called "convert ETC"

Edit: it will redeem it wherever you are docked, so if you dont want to haul them, make sure you are where you want tot sell them first.

Thanks I knew about the convert to ETC in-game but I'd like to know how to get the codes without activating them. I think that was my problem that I activated it in account management.

CTRL+Copy the ETC code(s), hit ESC in-game and press the 'Convert ETC' button in the lower left corner.

I'm not sure ETCs bought through the ETC system via other players can actually be converted to PLEX.

CCP sells PLEX directly via the web-site, and if you want to buy PLEX for ISK; there's the in-game market for that.

Yes I know. As you can see on that site, it mentions the in-game way of converting your ETC code to PLEX.

That is not possible with ETC bought via the Timecode bazaar. In order to prevent fraud, no codes are exhanged. They enter their codes when selling, and you get the gametime applied to your account.

Only way to get PLEX from ETC is to buy the actual Game Time Card / ETC, and enter the code yourself.

If you want PLEX for ISK, use the in-game market.

Oh well that's a pity then. Looks like my only hope is that I can get the game time applied evenly to my other accounts.

Actually, if anything, I think you'll get the PLEX.

I'm fairly certain CCP has no way of confirming that you are the owner of the different accounts without diggin' deep into their CS tools. Too much work to handle multiple accounts, when they could instead just revert applied game time and give you PLEX.

However, I'm not sure what their policy is on this. They are quite strict when it comes to PLEX and conjuring them up out of thin air when the code has already been consumed is not something I think the people on the floor are allowed, or even able to do.

They sure do, but despite we all like to point out when CCP messes up; like in this case.

Using the same terminology for stuff that works differently depending on which entry-point you happen to stumble across in the process, is just poor communication on their part.

Best of luck with your petition.

EDIT: And if those are your real account names, edit them out Blink

What's wrong with account names?
Still need the password to get into someone's account, and you have to give account names in order to transfer characters so it's not like they're THAT secure.

You know how many blacklists with stolen account names and passwords are out there?

People re-use stuff. With the account names out there, you've just done the dirty work of the hackers; telling them a given name on their lists exists in this game... let the farming begin.

The fact that you once in a blue moon tell someone who sold a legit character to you doesn't change that fact.

Did you know that there's a higher chance of your account name being unique across games, than your password?

Yeh I am usually more paranoid about this stuff but I have a very good password if I do say so myself. Lower case, upper case, numbers, symbols, all randomised (no words or anything of relevance to anything).

I've edited it out just in case though :P
