Black OPS - Propossed Fixes

Hey Folks,

I'm finding that the Black ops ships are only useful in specialized roles. I have a few suggested fixes/ changes.

- It would be better if the Black ops ships could fit covert ops cloaks, making it in fact, actually able to do black ops stuff.
- Most people have seen the much loved Clear Skies Trilogy, I'd like to be able to do what the widow does in that, actually jump without a cyno so for the few of us that like trying stuff out solo.

That's all from me, please feel free to add/ comment as you see fit.
Thank you CCP if you've looked and commented.

Just imagine if your Black Ops could warp cloak, move at mwd speeds when cloak, self jump without cyno and keep current dps abilities.

Can't you see the problems this OMGFCKINPWNMACHINE would cause?? -BO's are already OP when you meet a gang of these but they lack exactly what they're getting, so no. I really hope CCP will never make those able to use Cover ops and keep the speed bonus.
Special ability to self jump why not but make the game play restrictive, this BO version should not be able to fit or jump to covert/regular cynos and unable to bridge whatever.

Moving all around the place is already far too easy, we don't need more god-mode teleport button pwnmobiles and specially if they accumulate all the special abilities above.

Marauders for pve. BO for pvp.
I really don't want that to change.

Simple fix that would bring BO's into not being the least trained skill in the game would be warping cloaked. They have a lot of problems (fuel consumption being a big one) but that simple thing would fix them completely in many people's minds.

As it stands they are only good for bridging SB gangs onto a target that someone locked down in an Arazu. Other than that they have lacking DPS, and terrible tank.

I've seen the BO-cloak suggestion so many times now, but not a single one of them have ever argued what the practical gain of having it would be.

Don't get me wrong, i understand the value of how it translates to warping cloaked just fine, on principle.

What i'm missing is the practical application for it, or rather: How it would greatly improve life-quality so you would fly your ships in ways that you do not already do?

Not that i disagree with you about stale common use - or even more so the stale encouraged use after the proposed changes (that highly improves just dropping a Bomber gank from a static position, such as penetrating shallowly into nullsec from NPC-areas; which will not be as shallow post-patch but will still be shallow).

It's just that i don't see how any BO-cloak suggestion would change anything in the current paradigm for the ships.

It's the same reason i'm sceptical about the proposed changes, since it's generally just a buff to bridge-range with fuel compensation. If you look at common use of BO in comparison to ideal- or potential use of BO you can see the community broken into two larger groups: those that want to bridge Bombers for camp-ganks (yet don't have Titan-capacity) along with those who want to use their Blops as mini-carriers for hotdrops (ie., "hotdrop light"); in contrast to those that want to use their Blops as clandestine deep-penetration, behind-enemy-lines ships in support of a well-rounded stealth-gang (ie., "covert roamers"). I am firmly in the second camp while the changes clearly reward the former camp.

The BO-cloak suggestion may lean a bit more toward my ideal of using them more flexibly within a true covert environment - but we're still missing arguments as to how BO-cloak suggestions would fit in and as long as changes or design direction follow a hotdrop-ideal the BO-cloak alone is not going to incentivize true covert operations.

I hope the add ability to use covert ops cloak, jump without need for cyno, and remove the cloaked speed bonus.

If not a covert ops cloak, then at least make it immune to dscan and probes. At least then it can move around a system undetected till it arrives on grid.

Fuel consumption, jump range, bridge fuel consumption and fuel bay+cargo are being looked at. This is a major change increasing flexibility but also deployment abilities.

As far as I'm concerned, being able to already use one and a couple days to use one more, I really hope CCP is not stupid enough to give BO's the covert ops cloak device ability AND keep the cloak speed bonus, but if they get there, man how much do you think I will be sad about it? - I won't but this will just make them really FOTOM, that's what you're looking for I guess.
