Are any of the people who were involved in the original Sansha events involved in the current live events team?

Did anyone involved in the original Sansha events take notes on what worked & what did not?

Challenges/solutions both technical & otherwise.

Noone from the original team is involved in the current team. We do have a fair bit of documentation on technical challenges and we got a lot of feedback from the players on what worked and didn't in the past.

I have never had the chance to be in one that wasn't while I was at work.

So my official response: Eve Online has live events? since when?!

FE convoy thingy today was fun, and I greatly appreciated having a small, low-key event where a number of things *could* have gone wrong but in the end none *did*. It makes the world, events, and actor characters feel ever so much more real when I now know for a fact that not every event will turn out to be a major free-for-all shoot-out with nodes crashing because everyone will know and show up to take shots at the CCP guys. ;)

Agreed!
I would add that the lead up to the event was just as much a part of a well executed live event. CCP characters created a "tension" that allowed for good RP interaction among Gradient and EM characters before the actual event. That was very enjoyable! I know that it allowed me to explore more of this character's personality and interact with others involved.

Oh yes, this, so much. Thanks again to the actor(s?).

As to being in the news "again", I do not know in which alternate universe you live in, if you think we are there a lot. Anyhow, even if that was the case, we certainly did not contact the faction reps in order to coax a live event out of them so that we could make news and get awesomecoolgloryfame. In fact, we aimed at doing the event in secrecy and then STFU about it (probably not going to happent, though, due to Stuff(tm)). I posted positive feedback because it was pointed out to me that it is probably a good idea to do so if we want more of the stuff to happen. ;)

EDITed to add: I suspect part of why we did get an event was because we obviously were not trying to haggle for one, but simply RPing stuff that could have lead to something completely different too. In any case, like Seraphim points out, the main fun was not so much in the event itself, but in the interactions that lead into it and the interactions it caused inside the alliance.

I can guarantee that those "in the know" were not playing this up for points or making a big stink about it. In fact, they kept it a secret from most of the Alliance members unless they had decided to participate in the op -- to ensure nothing was leaked. I knew nothing about the nature of the event until after it was completed, and I read everything on our Alliance boards.

So even though I did not participate myself, I love the way it was done and want to see more stuff like this happen. Thanks, Live Events team!

Out of interest, here:

https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=179792

Five Minmatar Corps and seventeen individuals declared loyalty to the Republic. I had assumed that these would have some opportunity to have some small input into any live event appropriate for the Republic of only which one or two EM's corps were in the know, it would appear.

It'd be churlish to begrudge EM their place in what looks like a fun mini-event, but of those corps/individuals outside of EM -who else having declared loyalty to Republic, on the above list, was left out of the loop? What is the point of declaring loyalty, then?

Mildly annoying. Please would someone help me with some joined-up thinking on this matter?

So this event wasn't part of our Live Events schedule and doesn't have an effect on overall storyline other than adding a little fluff to an already empowered and more bold Republic with events that are upcoming.

This was the result of Electus Matari coming to their faction contact and asking for assistance with moving people. This was basically a couple of members of the EVE Illuminati taking time out to run freighters across highsec (myself and CCP Gargant).

The slaves that were moved, were actually the property of Electus Matari, and were handed back to them once they'd been moved from the starting point to the destination point. Their fleet commanders were in control of the convoy, and they escorted it.

They were also encouraged to get as many people together as possible that they felt they could trust to assist with escorting the convoy. They made the call on who came along, we simply flew the freighters, as they were in control of the fleet.

This is why we encourage people to get in contact with their faction representatives. I know that the Caldari contacts have actively been working with a few people, as have the Amarr and Gallente also.

We'll pull off as many events like this as we can on the sidelines, so long as we're not horridly busy with advancing the overall storyline Smile

I've noticed the last few Caldari live events were given very little advance notice. Is there any way we can at least get an OOC prod to say "Hey you should be around for so-and-so time!" You don't need to give IC notice, to keep it realistic... but it is frustrating to keep missing live events.

So while current live events are nice, they are extremely niche and most of the player base does not know anything about what's happening in New Eden.

So do something like: push a popup message/notification like a downtime one with "Breaking news!" header and a link to a short, great video? It will get people excited and interested.

This. It doesn't have to be a nifty video, but ANY for of announcement on the log-in news panel would be nice. I love trying to participate in these things...but apparently i've missed atleast the last three(?) b/c i had no idea they were occurring...until a week after when you post a dev blog about what HAD occurred....

here is my feedback

if you are talking about player influence, you should not lock gates and not let players to do something

if you want to do event, first of all you should use brain and think that not everyone have good galante standings, so you could just turn off galante police on inbound gates

if you don't want your "events" to be totally failed don't turn on concord just after titan dies next time only 1/10 of those pilots will come, and may be you will understood that you are doing it wrong

I am assuming that suspect flags on everyone in Luminaire was to disable Concord responses in the system. However, combined with time dilation, and the crowds developing on the Luminaire gates in neighboring systems, led to anyone trying to leave the event getting ganked on their way out. Time dilation was at times at a factor 10X so waiting 3 minutes for a suspect tag to disappear meant waiting 30 minutes. And EvE being EvE, this meant anyone seeking to leave Luminaire was being killed during that time. I hope CCP develops a better mechanic specific to handling events like this.

Secondly, no Titan doomsday? I know its hardcoded to not work in low sec, but honestly isnt that leftover from another era? there is no way to get one into high sec, and as far as I know there are none (player owned) in high sec. Like someone else had said, no QA tool that could have mimic'd a DD?

Finally, the commentators on the live stream were not up to the task. There was no immersion, and it felt like an EvE informercial. Lots of us could not get into Luminaire and were relying on the Live stream to find out what is going on, and we get two people who just keep repeating crap like '...these are actual player ships!!!" or "its all happening on one shard, get your 14 day trial today...". Who was the target audience for this stream? EvE players who couldn't get into Luminaire or non-suscribers curious about EvE?

Feedback from the Luminere event.

Attention - Channel for just event actors
Next time there is an event this large can we have a separate chat channel for just the event team and where only the event actors have posting privileges.

The channels : Local and Live Events were so full of spam that it was hard to see when the Caldari and Gallente navies/admirals were talking. Plus seeing all the Pro and Neg CCP comments and other non role playing talk made it it less immersive for those who came for the story rather than just to blow the crap out of each other. :D

Attention - Clearer Event Start Info
Next time could you provide clearer information on when the event will start. lots of people logged on after DT friday only to find out the event started 5 hours later. (the eve client log-on portal's news section only stated that the luminere system would be staging the event after downtime it didn't say when the actual event was to begin)

Attention Live Stream Presenter feedback
- The live stream was a good idea however the presenters should have all the pre planned dialogue/scripts in front of them so they can tell the audience what the actors are saying and what is happening in the fight.

They should also have live info on who the primary and secondary targets of the actor fleets are and fleet number status of those ships. There was alot of comments similar to "im not sure what is happening right now" and "scale of fight is to big to pick out details" from the presenters indicating they only had the same info as the rest of the participants.

Rather than turning on the brackets they should have live presenter software so they can highlight particular ships with drawable circles and arrows etc to indicate what is happening. Turning the ship brackets on just looked like a big mess. which is fine if your participating in the fight but not so enjoyable if your just watching.

Presenters should also have access to live statistics such as how many ships have been destroyed etc. would make it more exciting for those watching.

Was to much advertising to non eve subscribers by presenters. (as stated in above post)

The twitch tv idea was nice but their servers are terrible. Over 10 hours after the event the video is loading at 20kb/s for me in Australia. my connection is 8mb/s to Europe and US.

Overall a solid attempt by the two presenters especially the guy who has been at CCP for only a week !

AttentionTitan bumping looked a bit silly
- can you prevent capital ships from being bumped. seeing the titan rolling and spinning from cruiser and frig bumping was funny at first but then kinda lame and detracted from the story.

Thanks CCP for putting on this event and to all the Devs that participated. Was fun... would attend again !

Feedback about the Luminere event:

- lag was pretty bad even without tidi: i couldn't lock suspects outside of lumi (get the they are invulnerable message), then they got popped before i even could start loccking them. there were desync problems as well as i could loot wrecks right next to me

- after the titan was down, i was able to jump in and shoot on the suspect capitals, not sure if all kills have been posted, currently i'm just on one moros mail although i was shooting 5 and a thanny ... (being on grid when they popped). so there might be bugged killmails as well

- had several client freezes with a second char who tried to warp away from the battlefiled

- the player cap for such a major annouced event was a huge turn down. to reduce this in the future you could have one side of such a conflict stage in the surrounding systems and allow players who can't join the main system due to the player cap at least work on those staging systems instead of sitting at the gate

- the commentary in the official stream was pretty meh, do the advertising at the end and do more like a live reporter thing
