Will CCP be doing more to get none forum users involved with CSM though the ingame client intead of just posting an advert at startup?

We all know those who use forums like to whine, that meaning whiners wil vote for a whiny CSM.

In this case it's because you're both awful HEY OH!

But no seriously. What useful ideas do you have to put forward to reach people who don't read the forums at all? Pop ups in space? That's going to get annoying really quick. EVE mails? Probably more doable.

I want to hear some ideas out of you, NickyOh, instead of just you complaining.

There's only so much you can do to get people to take an interest in improving their own affairs.

There's a few options for them. Player base wide eve-mails (like you said), political banners in front of stations. You wouldn't even really need a new model, just take the billboards near gates and put them near stations. IMO, stations should have had some form of life near them in the first place. Space would have moar advertisements (like the Minmatar outpost).

Also maybe events to raise awareness, but those could be player driven. However, CCP could get the ball rolling in some manner.

Again, I'm amazed the I'm agreeing with Nicky Yo, but he's right. The vocal minority of the forums is what's represented here. And no that doesn't mean that only forum users care enough about Eve since they're on here reading it, it just means we're all trolls trolling each other for Space Forum Cred. The people who play and not give a damn about what others think (i.e. don't read the forums) should be reached out to.

wellmost folks who dont check the main site or dev blogs or even the popups generaly dont have any interest in the development and overall betterment of eve... otherwise they would be here reading and putting in there input, maybe some adverts on the big screen in CQ maybe thouhg :-P or even the billboards in space? just dont send spam mail like ya did with the aurum store opening,

Just spam jita obviously

There are good ships,

And wood ships,

And ships that sail the sea

But the best ships are Spaceships

My point is, how can you force the willfully ignorant to pay attention?

and how is this any different to a general election for the next government where the turnout of voters is lower than that of a big brother eviction show?

I dunno man, if huge splash screens and repeated articles in the 'news' section in the client, as well as emails, don't get people voting, perhaps they don't want to vote.

You would need one or more severe learning disabilities to miss the fact the election is happening.

suspend their account until they cast a vote.

hence being called aaaaaaaaaaCSMCandidate is the best choice of name for any one wanting to be on the csm.

to be fair, login screen splashes are ******* useless.
when i open eve, i play in windowed mode, when i double click the bar to make it fill the screen it actually removes whatever splash advert there was. so many times i've missed them, and that news bar on the character selection screen is pointless. since you can only train one character on an account the character selection screen is redundant.

in short, adverts while logging in are utterly ineffective to people who actually want to log in and play the game.

i guess you are new here and don't know the story of last CSM election. Because if i'm wrong then.... Well.... I really don't know....

Just in case i'm right and you are new here.
Last CSM election was advertised almost everywhere (i don't speak about Washington Post, Fox and other useless money sinks). People was discussing it on forums (lots of different threads + special forums), in game chats, while wasting time on CTAs,.... There was mail spams "Vote for me and get 1 billion"...
CCP made a special advertisement on login screen about it. They made a couple of RSS and Twitter announcements.

CSM election finished, CSM elected, some time passed and.... People started to come to forums and whine "no one said me there was CSM election!", "CCP should pay more attention to people", "only goons voted", etc.....

People tent to not care about things. And if one doesn't care he will not waste his time on this thing. If you will annoy try to get him care you will be bloked and blamed. Like spammers in RL. Like advertisements blocks on TV when you just switch to another channel (not sure if people still do it, i haven't TV for like 3 years and didn't watch heavy-advertisement-infested channels for like 10 years).

This creates a voter, it doesn't create an informed voter.

I don't know about you, but I don't want an uninformed voter representing the player base (even if that would be ~democratic~)

most people don't, but it was the only suggestion that'd really work for increasing the proportion of players that vote.

personally, if you don't vote i think that's fine. i also think it means you should be banned from the forums and the game for creating a post on the forums saying that you don't like something. because, you lost your voice when you didn't vote.

just like i say to any of my friends when they complain about the government, i always ask them if they voted and when they say no i swiftly back hand them and tell them to keep their mouth shut since they forfeit their right to comment on politics the moment they didn't cast a vote.

In his usual inimitable style, Mr Yo raises an important issue. It would be good for the CSM to have a higher profile amongst the players. Ultimately, the CSM derives its legitimacy from the playerbase, and a CSM that sees 60 or 70% of the players involved in voting has rather more moral authority and clout than one which only 6 or 7% bothered to involve themselves with.

For the record, this would be a very poor business decision on CCP's part.

For one thing, you can vote for CSMs who will encourage & support CCP to develop EVE along radical sandbox lines, with an ever-increasing emphasis on player interaction. *whistles, looks innocent*

Change the game for these people and they'll get interested quick enough. Anything that affects hi-sec missioning or mining sees a sudden uptick of interest in the forums...
