While its always amusing to see the little pop up that "officials have closed the gate" the fact is the reason that happened is due to too much load on the Jita server.

It seems to be happening with a rather annoying consistency as well. Is it time to admit the single shard environment in fact does not work and fragment? Or maybe we can finally get some more digital horsepower thrown at the Jita region at least.

Jita has already been multi-sharded. Look up "Dodixie" and "Rens"

Go to another trade hub, go to another system, wait your turn, pod people out of Jita.

the "single sharded sandbox" is usually mentioned in every marketing opportunity CCP has. In other words: VERY unlikely

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

Jita needs to be more dangerous. Lower the security rating to 0.5 that should help clear up some congestion.

Nope, multiple shards is not how Eve rolls.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

they could always beef up the node on the weekends ... since it seems to happen weekly now, should be enough notice.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

And if three trade hubs aren't enough, start your own.

When we first set up shop out here, auntie pointed out how much the Derelik region was sadly living up to it's name. So much potential, yet Rens was the only trade hub (in Republic space, no less) less than a dozen jumps away - and their prices were simply obnoxious. So set up shop we did, and many BPOs were purchased, and I started shooting at rocks, building things, and shipping them over to the HQ to put up for sale. See if we could bring a little business to the area. Then we got a few more people doing the same thing.

Many months later we ran into a problem. The problem was: It was working. My favorite factory station often now finds itself with all slots filled and orders backed up for days. My favorite belt systems, when we first started, I had maybe five people on local in peak time. Now I never see less than twenty even in the off hours, and I can't throw a dead cat without hitting another mining barge. To be fair, most of this stuff just ends up at Rens anyway, but I've noticed a sharp drop in prices and increases in local sales orders throughout the region.

But hey - it's working, and there is the satisfaction of doing the hipster thing and saying "I was into that before it was cool." And we're tiny, barely five people working together. So with that in mind I'd say any half-baked industry company is perfectly capable of creating their own little niche hubs - and a good sized industrial alliance? Heck, they can dictate where new hubs will begin.

Handy tip: Find someplace about three or four jumps away from a FW hub or low-sec. Those people are always getting themselves blown up, so demand is always highest there.

It hasn't really been that long since Jita was upgraded. The one shard environment is working fine. If you don't like being stuck outside of Jita go somewhere else.

Hi,

This topic has occurred many times already; it's just not going to happen.
The single universe paradigm is a massive part of what makes EVE so popular.

As others have said, if you can't deal with this, then using another trade hub is an option.

Because this is a duplicate and that these threads always end up with flaming and trolling, I'm going to lock this as it's a violation for forum rule 14:
