My biggest issue with tablets and touch screens in general is my neuroses about fingerprints on screens.

I hate them, I hate them so much....

That, plus accuracy on anything with 'touch' control is a bad joke. Tablets are and always will be, a fad from the 10's. It will pass.

burn your fingers prints off

That doesn't remove the marks that would be left by my print-less fingers.

You're talking to someone who buys a new monitor when 1 pixel dies.

you might have that OCD thing

I just don't see the point in spending money on a computer that makes all the things look pretty only to spodge junk all over the screen and make it look less good.

god I hope the future of desktops isn't touch screen ¬_¬

...in others news, Microsoft shareholders enjoyed a 70% boost in stock price at market opening due to a spike in sales late last week. Analyst note that during the course of researching this spike, consumers were heard to be discussing "shooting dust bunnies" with their new multi-touch systems.

Microsoft has declined to comment at this time.

Still needs a mouse and a keyboard. For gaming, I can see this working. It would have to be adjustable, though, so you could sit back on the couch and tilt the tabletop up.

Using Splashtop on an Android here. It works well enough for PI and Mining, which is great because I can watch TV and EVE at the same time.

Drafting table and a good comfy drafting stool. Couch goes in the fire with the desk.

My problem is that I'm used to a vertical window into space. A tablet sitting on a table, I'd have to move my in-game camera to look top-down at the ship.

Though it may be cool to have a tablet's accellerometers control your camera angle.

Logmein.com

Works very well for this.

Someone mentioned splashtop as well.

I've done something similar on occasion, i have used a app called splashtop for android to hit my desktop at home over the internet and play EVE on the desktop via the tablet, the framerate can be as high as 30fps but only on a good connection with faster internet i am sure i could get a decent framerate anywhere really. although it is playable for not PVP at 3-4 fps, but that was over a cell network where i have spotty service :)

This was impressive back when Chribba played eve on his cell phone back in 2005-6 (can't be bothered to cough up the actual thread link, but Chribba himself might help?).

I think a UI designed for tablets would be a great idea that CCP should look into (or continue doing so). I would be happy with an interface that allows me to do 'in station' stuff: Communication with corp/alliance, market orders, contracts, R&D, etc etc. And a happy little message from Aura telling me to use a real computer anytime I try to undock.

Actually, I play EVE since three years on a touch screen (wacom) while lying on the sofa. Water cooled PC, touch screen with a stylus. Like that I am not hidden in my office but with my wive in the living room.

With minor tweaks of the GUI (button to increase amounts in the trade windows) it would be perfect.Currently, now and then I have to use a keyboard beside me which is uncomfortable.

On the internet, you can be whatever you want to be. It is amazing that so many people chose to be stupid.
