Courier Contract - 'Can't do that in a mission package'

Hi everyone. This is my first post and first visit to the EVE forums, though not actually my first time playing EVE. I've done the trial about five times, and have subbed twice, all in the last 7+ years, but have never fully stuck it out; yet I'm always drawn back for more. Say what you will about my commitment to the game, there is clearly something great about EVE that I love which I just don't get from other online games. But regardless, hello!

Anyway, I digress. I have an issue I'm really hoping someone can help with, but I apologise in advance if this isn't the correct forum location to ask it!

I accepted a courier contract today (nothing major, only 2m collateral and 700k reward, in relatively hi-sec space), but unfortunately, upon arrival at the pickup location, I've found that I'm not allowed to transfer the goods I have been contracted to haul into the hold of my ship. I can see the goods in storage at the station clear as day, but every time I attempt to drag them into my hold, I'm told 'Can't do that in a mission package', and given no further information about it.

I've searched the web high and low and have had no luck finding any answers. Somebody in EVE rookie chat told me to look out for scams, but I don't understand how a scam can be possible in a game to the extent that someone could create a contract to haul goods and not even make it possible to collect the items. Surely the game mechanics wouldn't allow such a thing to happen?

So there it is. I'm at a loss with this, and I'd really appreciate it if someone could explain the whole 'mission package' thing to me.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that the goods take up a total of 210m3 cargo space, and my ship has a maximum storage of 270m3, so just in case somebody suggests it, I don't think this is the problem!

Many thanks in advance :)

I say we take off and nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Are they in a corporate hangar of any sort?

Also, this game is designed to allow scams, new ones are discovered fairly regularly after new updates like this one :). but for 2mil, I doubt it

So I have never run a courier contract (though I have created quite a few for others to run myself) but I am pretty sure you should try to put the whole package itself in you hold and not just the goods that you see inside the package.

This seems to have been the solution! Wow I feel particularly dumb now! The problem I had (as a fool) was that when I saw the package on the left menu (where you are able to select where items are held), I didn't realise it was 'the package' I was transporting, and thought it was simply a storage location within the station itself. I was indeed attempting to move the individual drones from within the package, into my ship's hold, which of course meant I was trying to take the goods out of their box. D'oh!

Thank you for this advice, and I hope this thread can help any other mistaken pilots like myself when doing a courier contract in future. Thanks to everyone else for your help too and bothering to reply. Greatly appreciated!

1. Are you dragging it from the items hangar, not from the content of the package? (Selected item hangar, not the package itself in the tree on the left.
2. What are the contents of the package?

On the left hand side, click on item hangar, drag the item from there to your (Jump)Freighter cargo hold.
Do NOT select the item itself on the left hand side.

Sounds like a bug issue... I recently set up a courier contract from one alt to another because the traffic had me running thru low, and it's cake in the Crane. Accepted contract, picked it up, and delivered it. No biggie. Works fine the few times I've done it. Last time I did it was about a week ago (COSMOS mission).

I doubt it's a bug, more of a case PEBKAC :)
