Find a low-sec corp and don't believe everything people tell you in these forums.
A lot of people will be very happy to see you get podded and come back here to cry.
Don't fly what you can't afford to lose.
And don't take all your assets to low-sec, leave yourself a way out .
This game is a long term commitment and things change.

If you don't have a corp there, no point moving there. Once you get in a corp, just take any ship that isn't ridiculously shiny fit and fly there. It's not as dangerous as people make it out to be and unless the gate is bubbled you're not going to die unless you do something stupid like afk autopilot.

joining a low-sec corp is a great way to go, i also went the Faction Warfare route and had lots of fun with enthusiastic trainers.

you are going to lose ships, so make sure you don't fly what you can't afford to lose, lots of folks just start out with t1 frigates until they get the hang of whats going on.

so far this thread has great advice P

while i agree with Terzho in some ways, also expect trouble at gates in low sec. If you want to move around alot invest in some warp stabilizers, they can help you avoid getting dead fast.

Lots of folks pod, so dont be running around in a clone with implants. jump clones ftw. Also make sure you are current with your clone, when you die, and you shall, you will need to buy a new clone EVERY TIME, haha.

Same advice as everywhere: make friends, do stuff you enjoy, set various ranging goals: (short term, long term, easy, hard, etc).

Really, Eve is the easiest game in the world to have fun in, it just takes a while to ~get~ it.

Find a station with a decent undock, make several instant-undock bookmarks, and keep one eye on Local.

In other words, treat it just like being in a war -- every day.

Your Mileage May Vary... but have fun anyway Blink

Add notes to people, learn their schedules: some people are just doing their PI routes, others picking up buy orders, others trying to kill you, etc... Learn d-scan, make safes, tacticals, undocks, close docks; basically make it super easy to get around your home area. Stay alert, get into fights, have a good time.

second or third poster said it

don't fly what you can't afford to lose

you don't need to be in a corp - fit up a frigate + set dest deep into null.

first thing you come across just tackle it and start shooting. fairly sure a decent corp will ask you to join soon enough Twisted

These are all good pieces of advice, though I would suggest getting into NPC nullsec rather than lowsec. More targets sadly.

OP move right this second!! Find a decently active area and roam around in a battlecruiser. You will only really learn how to pvp by going and doing it, join a corp that lives in low or even a faction warfare corp. You can have a lot of fun just roaming around all day with some buddies and shooting everything you encounter! I hope you go soon and have a blast Lol

if you are doing something at a celestial set dscan to 150000000 km (1 au) and spam to see which ships are coming to you

also useful in fights to see if buddies/alts are coming in

fly small ships with low sig rad like frigs, not many things can lock you in time at a gate and tank the gate guns

for gate campers who STAY AT THE SAME GATE ALL THE TIME IN A LOKI ShockedRoll add them as a contact and see when they are online, and just avoid that gate when they are online

check your flag if you are undocking from a station, just incase lol

dont fly to a trade hub when u got a flag lol

dont go direct ways into lowsec from trade hubs, set the enterance systems to avoid on your autopilot and go the long way round

if theres a ship hovering around at a gate on its own its prob camped the other side, why dont they use a cloak, i dunno

lots of industrials on dscan will be in poses so i dont even waste time to see if they are doing PI coz 99% wont be

put combat scanners probes on your overview and dscan

if u dont have a safe just go to a planet at 10 to 70 and burn directly up/down with prop mod on

be chill, dont be a drama llama, its lowsec man

When I first moved I kept a high sec base with a few ships in low sec that I'd carefully scout down.

The high sec base was the high sec connection system to the low sec point. In fast ships gatecamps or whatever are not a worry. I didn't leave near one of the land of loving smartbombing gatecamps to deal with that, nor would I.

I found that as my comfort in low sec grew, so did my presence. Eventually, all of my ships and items worked their way down. Now I have not been back to my high sec spot in at least six months or so since I can no longer be bothered to drag my sec back up.

A corporation and people help. People that can teach you how to live and thrive in low sec space. There are things to do, isk to be had, behaviors to learn, and general game play stuff going on. You can do things by yourself but it is harder. If you do PvE an assault frigate can help you in amazing ways until you skill fully into other things.

There are many inconviences to being barred from high sec. Most of those rotate around needing to buy things. One of the first things I did was train my alt into cloaky haulers so that she could move the things I needed to live around for me. That alone opened up a lot of options for me.

It is not only don't fly what you can't afford but don't fly what you can't fit.

Save locations 160-170 klicks off of stargates, and use these perches when you move around your territory, to see who might be camping at a gate before initiating a jump. Later you can use these same locations for evil deeds and or cloaky scouting for your corp, should you so chose.

You've been in highsec forever, and only have 1.5 mil sp? Lost in a black hole? Shocked

I am not, nor will I ever be...Nicky Yo.... The question you should ask is.....When will they release the NICKY!

One thing. For Pete's sake, that warning "Do you really really really want to enter low-sec" etc. - click "Do not show again" and keep it that way; after a re-install head straight for that setting and disable once again.

That message can stop some people enjoying the serenity of low, as it did me at first. That thing is a psychological barrier for some -you're better off without it from the get-go.

I have only been playing this game for a week but today I took the plunge into low-sec. I was quite lucky and found a Corp willing to take me in as a new player and teach me the ropes. The first thing I noticed is that low-sec is not even a fraction of how dangerous all the hi-sec people make it out to be... in fact it was rather lonely.

I poked around probably 12 systems and saw just a few souls who all wanted nothing to do with me and my Rifter of awesomeness (along with my 500,000k SP). I searched for some miners to gank because I figured who else could I blow up with my crappy ship and crappy skills. After running around about 20 asteroid belts and almost getting blown up by a rat battleship I decided that was a bad idea.

So a little later I decided I would try to camp a station in a small system and tag the first unsuspecting pilot that undocked. I will just add in here that I was told that I should NOT attack someone near any gates because they have sentry guns... nobody said a damn thing about sentry guns at a station... anyways....

I saw a pilot eject in his kestrel and I knew I had him cause I am a hardcore, ruthless, mean, deadly (ok not really) pirate. I got him locked and opened fire with my massive autocannons of doom. HOLY MOTHER OF GOD. THIS KESTREL IS DESTROYING ME WARP ---- BOOM. Fiery blue death. I warp into the station and sit there stunned. I look up the Kestrel and, yep, its a frigate too so how the hell did it just own me so badly. It was smacking me for 400 damage. Then a Corpmate logs on and I tell him the story. He gives me 20mil isk because he was laughing so hard and tells me that it was the sentry guns at the station.

Anyways this was my first day in low sec and I am sad I waited my first 6 days in EVE to make the move. I have no regrets and had an absolute blast today even though I made a fool of myself. That is my perspective on low-sec.
