CCP, I have a small request to make. As it stands currently, usually players in the US TZ typically don't get to participate in your live events because we are always at work. Its fairly upsetting to know that cool things are going on while you are at work. As it stands now, with the times you gentlemen do these live events, only euro's and the unemployed US players get to participate in your live events.

Suggestion: IF there would be some magnanimous dev's who wished to bring happiness and joy to the cheeseburger loving masses in the US, that would be most appreciated. I know it may mean working a bit late, but is having fun in EVE really work?

Just a humble request from a long time player who always misses out on these fun live events due to work.

During 2013, this is definitely something on my to do list.

There'll be events in later time zones next year, no need to be concerned about that.

Big smile

Confirming I'm sitting at work trying to follow, wishing CCP would show their HUGE US PLAYER BASE some love at some point.

Im am fairly positive there is still a US CCP office in Atlanta. It would make perfect sense that CCP does the dame thing the players do.

When there are large scale fleerts between alliances near timezone changes, usually fleets go home, reform, and go right back out there.

CCP could do a "shift change" and have the US CCP team come online to play.

HOW ABOUT DOING LIVE EVENTS ON THE WEEKENDS???? Weekends, you can run a live event whenever you want, a lot of US players are off on weekends, middle of the day on the weekends is always the busiest time. The fact that they do this during the week instead of a weekend restricts the players available to participate greater than the time of day.

edit:

sorry for typos, my finger has a bandage and im hitting weird butans

FC, what do?

We've said quite a few times that non-core EU timezones are a goal. At the moment we're keeping the events being run out of Reykjavik so that we can control them easily, but we do want to accomodate other TZs.

I doubt that any "shift change" would be quite as cut and dry as that, but having our other offices able to participate in events is also one of our 2013 goals. Thing about weekends is, well, they're weekends! Not the most popular time to volunteer to work Lol

To respond a little more to this query, I'm more than happy to co-ordinate and run out of hours events. I've done so on a number of occasions over the last couple of months, and have no issues with doing so at the weekends too.

(I'm in the office working on Live Events right now, and it's a Saturday. P)

Basically, in the end my personal position on running US Timezone events is simple. We're aware as a team of the need for events that are off EU timezone, and I don't care if I have to be in the office at 4am to run them, I'll do so if that's what it takes to get an even spread across all time zones.

That said, other members of the team have family and work commitments, so it'll probably come down to the need for volunteers from within CCP to step forward if they can make it.

The opening of the office would also be an issue back in sunny mainland UK space overlord, you all earn your salutes up there in Iceland.

Or find players willing to do part of the job too, although obviously their fleets would have to be on dedicated acounts under the direction of CCP.

That seems like it could be a good idea. But instead of giving them CCP Fleets provide a CCP FC and then fill up them covertly. Make them all appear blue in local, move them to a random system and give them insane fleet boosts and let them take on all takers.

Those in take part could be given fits that rely upon polaris skill (which is granted when joining fleet, and removed when they leave the fleet)

This isn't something we're willing to do at this time. Live Events will remain in house for the foreseeable future.

I think all of us in the US & Austrailian time zones should start an ISK fund to so CCP can start supplying CCP Falcon with methamphetamines errr I mean ' RL analogue Strong Crash boosters ' so he can properlly tweak all live events accross all timezones & on weekendz Lol also CCP then should increase his dental insurance for all the teeth grinding Smile

How about using the Atlanta and shanghai office to get some 24h coverage for live events then?

Unfortunately, the Atlanta office is composed mostly of people on non-EVE projects or customer support staff who are more difficult to pull away from their jobs. Shanghai is mostly people focused on Dust 514. We definitely want to explore our options there, but it's not as simple as saying "Those offices should form their own event teams".

i do understand the restrictions based of where the team is based out of... i was thinking more that both in Atlanta and shanghai there would be devs who also enjoy playing eve and perhaps would have some volunteers to assist running live events in thier respective off times...

something like once every now and then they order some pizza/beer and stay an hour or two late after work to run an event...

How about this, as a show of good faith, maybe the Devs and GM's who can do so, and are willing to do so, make it known in this thread? I am not meaning to be pretentious, in any way, but I would like to see more discussion about how this would work in a clear/concise manner. If nothing else, it would show the community that there is a faction of Dev's willing to give the US player base some live event love, considering we make up a large chunk of the subscribing player base Big smile

Its not a case of doing this, and it's not a case of people who are volunteering for this to come forward and reveal themselves.

People's commitments change, and as volunteers sometimes they can make it and sometimes they can't.

We can get the volunteers to do it, we just need to plan accordingly and make sure that things are set up well.
