I have a account issue with several accounts. Possibly hacked. Yes I put in a petition and its been 3 days. I am beginning to reconsider reactivating my 4 accounts. Is there another option?

The best you can do is file a "stuck" petition.

Of course it will take time to investigate.

And it is the holiday season.

If you can't login try a few things:

- clear cache manually
- run repair.exe from the eve folder

If your password doesn't work and you somehow can't change it and suspect account issues you'll have to petition, do NOT put two petitions in for the same thing and especially not under "stuck". It won't help you at all and generally just pisses ppl off, generally not a good idea. Account issues like that due to its very nature take quite a while to investigate and CCP has a habit of giving no feedback on their actions/findings/ongoing investigations other than a brief mail at the end of it all.

Also, as a side note, most of the times customers are perfectly aware what happened so if you did something wrong and are trying to wiggle your way out of it then good luck with that.

I wasn't planning on putting in another petition. thanks for the advice though. I am just sad at the state of the customer service.

I left the game for a year and wanted to come back. Bu my passwords worked but my character names did not. I assumed they might have been deleted or sold off (hacked). Since you cant log in with out that info I am stuck.

Its to bad that CCP lost another customer and I suspect many more over the lack of phone support for a pay to play game.

Good luck to everyone else I hope you don't have need of customer service.

Generally it's a mix up of accounts and characters, either you're using the wrong old/alt accounts (I once came back, added time to my account and found no chars and after a bit of a wtf moment and a petition realised I had activated the wrong one, they moved the account time to the right one and I was on my way).

You're one of a few hundred thousand customers, some of whom might have problems requiring petitions. As such you're not a special snow flake and will have to stand in line till it's your turn, especially due to the holiday season tons of people are reactivating old accounts and running into the same problem as you. If you can't deal with that then oh well.

If you know your password but not the character name can't you create an api key and use something like evemon to get the character name(s)?

That works indeed if the accounts are active. If he needs to login to reactivate the accounts he is out of luck.

Since when do you log in with character names.

I log in with my ACCOUNTname and then go to the selection screen of characters.

Af for CCP...PETITIONS, they are handled asap. Like if someone ask you something you drop everything you are doing all the time.

The show of impatience just shows me that you are not the guy who likely will stick to EVE for a long time.

I think this is your problem. Your characters are located in within your log-in screen which is activated with an ACCOUNT name.
No-one should have an account name which is the same as a character name simply for security reasons.

I think you have forgot your ACCOUNT name or are confusing it with a character name at log-in to your account.

I appreciate all the helpful ideas. I have ownership of the accounts as I have he original Email address which allows me to reset the password but that's all. I cant log in unless I have a character name of one if my accounts. I have tried every character I have ever used on every account I have listed and some are still listed as in game. Its not a memory or confusion problem. Its I am screwed till I get some help problem.

If I'm reading this properly, most - if not all - of the advice so far is missing the point.

I think the OP is trying to reactivate his accounts but can't get into Account Manager, where you first have to input an account name and password and then provide the name of a character on that account.

'Since when do you log in with character names'??

Well, sorry to say, you are demonstrating your lack of knowledge of current security processes. I recently reactivated and as an 'added security measure' you have to type in a character name EXACTLY to reactivate an account.

IMHO this is one of the most stupid security measures in any game, as I play a number of MMOs and have no idea what my character names are in many of them. I much prefer the 'secret question' approach.

OP - if it is any consolation - took 4 days for mine to get resolved - so yours should be anytime now.

If you try to log in from a new/unknown location it'll ask you to provide a character name that goes with the account, if you can't then CCP will send you the names to your registered email adress.

Indeed - and it would be nice if that part could be automated rather than to have to wait on a ticket.

As stated it is the holiday season and if you put your petition in 3 days ago it was a Friday. So it can take some time, if you really want you can also email them but really your one petition should be enough.

To give you an idea A total of 418,100 petitions were filed in 2010.

http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Petition_Creation_Rate_-_Customer_Support_2010
http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Petition_Statistics_-_Customer_Support_2010

From a post I remember from a GM earlier this year they said that these numbers were still within the same accurate range. I'm sure they have went up a little as the number of subscriptions have increased as well. So just need to wait and relax your petition will be answered by the appropriate people.

When I made a petition and a GM answered, litterally, within 3 minutes.

I cant help but suspect that people such as yourself have more to the story or you dont give enough info/put it under the wrong category when making the petition.
That and relax, you cant expect their customer service to run at 100% over a weekend and try to guess when the most petitions would be made. (hint, its a weekend and its during the hollidays, you're gonna have to deal with it)

So where are the characters you used to have now? I presume you must still have at least one character on the account otherwise it wouldn't be asking you for a character name.

Have the missing characters changed PLAYER corp in the time you were inactive? NB - I don't mean kicked to npc corp

Also who had access to your account because that would have been required.

Petitions like this can take weeks to get sorted if there's any ambiguity about it, which I suspect there is in your case (any buddy logins?).
