Mining Yield Question: High Volume Ore

Quick question that I figured would be best asked here:

If the yield/cycle I have from a Deep Core Mining Laser I is 90m3/cycle and I am mining Mercoxit (40m3/unit), what happens to the remaining 10m3 of capacity left over after mining two units of Mercoxit totaling 80m3? Is it wasted or would I pick up an extra unit every 4th cycle? Thanks in advance!

Get an exhumer with Modulated Deep Core Strip Miners and the Mercoxit Crystals...
Or if you are doing it for the ISK, pick Ark...it has a much higher ISK/hour ratio.

Thanks for the advice. I can certainly do that, but I'm looking to see if I can put together a fit for a venture that can pull off a decent yield for less than 5M ISK.

Edit: ...and I am looking to stockpile some Morphite in null right now, so Ark and Hed aren't going to work for me at the moment.

Can't mine Mercoxit with a Miner II.

The MLU ends up being overkill for the job since it won't get you to a full additional 40m3. As you explained earlier in the thread, the excess is wasted (granted, this is without considering fleet boosts)

On top of that, it needs a Co-Processor to fit the ridiculous requirements for the Deep Core Mining Lasers. I would just upgrade to a Modulated Deep Core Miner II, but those are like 10M a piece.

You also have to stagger the DCMLs as they drain the Venture's cap pretty quickly, you need rechargers to keep it somewhat cap stable (which actually makes it worse to have a fleet boost that reduces mining laser cycle time).

It's far from a good fit so far, but I'm still working on it. The best part is that it's cheap and I wouldn't bat an eye if I were to lose one.

overall, sounds like you'd be better off mining almost anything in high sec, selling it, and buying your morphite.

Then I have to arrange for it to be shipped down to null sec, which is annoying if I just need a small amount of material.

I'm just putting together something that can zip out and mine some mercoxit when I have a second. Considering a lot of my time is spent jaw-jacking in corp chat and not doing anything that makes ISK, I'm not too worried about being ISK efficient.

My main question was whether there was any point to try and squeeze a MLU on the thing, which was answered. Thanks!
