I think these numbers may have been in the quarterly numbers, but not sure.
I am curious how much ISK is lying around in all the wallets in the game, including the corporate wallets.
No way to calculate all the hard assets, but ISK should be something that CCP has a handle on,

There is no real reason to know, but I am indeed curious.

That's more complicated a question than you think. Do you count inactive accounts? Banned accounts? How do you tell if an account is inactive, or just on break? Do you count isk in wtb contracts and buy orders?

The issue of isk lost to inactive accounts was brought up in a discussion on isk faucets/sinks and inflation. CCP never came up with a satisfactory answer, but has kinda mellowed out on the inflation talk ever since.

The average player has about 9 ISK in his wallet.

Multiply that by the player base and you find there is a good couple of mil floating around the game.

According to the QEN for Q4 2010, there was 445 trillion ISK in all accounts in EVE. Now this information is obviously a bit outdated, but I'll see if I can find some more recent data for you.

I don't think its something you'll ever find out. It's like saying how much money is in the world, as in the case of eve its always moving and even then once you got it stop then you'd have to count market orders, isk invested in insurance, want to buy contracts, how much was invested in ships. I think it'd be easier to say 'how much isk is in everyone's wallet' but I don't think it would be a close value to actual whole game isk

Why has there been no updates to the QEN? We're missing a couple.

We have changed the format for reporting the economic data a bit -- now we are concentrating on monthly price indices (the next one should be published very shortly) and projects such as this one. Speaking of the latter, CCP Stillman is looking for your feedback. Smile

These numbers could be determined exactly in EVE's case, where every isk and bullet is accounted for in the database. Actually working it all out is not that complicated at all, just a lot of work.

Thanks for the prompt reply Spitfire.
That is a big, big number.
That means every account in Eve is on average well over 1 billion ISK.

My 5 year plan to control Eve economically has been...er..extended, a bit.

These numbers could be determined exactly in EVE's case, where every isk and bullet is accounted for in the database. Actually working it all out is not that complicated at all, just a lot of work.

The complicated part is deciding what to include in the count... like the isk in insurance... should that be counted? Yes it has a chance to significantly affect the final numbers, but how much insurance just expires and the isk lost? And if you do come to a decision, do you include isk invested, or the isk payouts? You could be counting isk that hasn't existed in anyone's wallets and can't be determined "exactly" yet is still fulfilling a purpose in the game. And still, what about inactive accounts? How many people have made their billions, got bored of trade as a profession, and unsubbed? And will they be back? How do you determine the odds of them coming back any time soon, and if you start including them in the total isk count you cannot be exact.

Also, I'm still all wtf about the lack of QENs... The EVE economist had 4 reports a year, and a whole team to put it together. The monthly price indices feel like an easy way out.

Some of the information in the QENs were completely wrong, so I say good riddance.

I'm not saying you're lying, but care to give a few examples?
