There is a ton of rage out there in the forums.
I am as angry as the next, probably more so.

But all the people that mean well HAVE to stop feeding the trolls.
You can recognize them easily enough.

They are the ones that flip out a 10 word sentence to a long well thought out post suggesting you are an idiot because they have a new game mechanic nailed and you must be a moron for not understanding how easy it is.
They love the line "adapt or die".
They love the line HTFU.
They love the terms "risk/reward" and "rebalance.

But to reply to them just feed their sick need to annoy and hurt other people, even if it just in the forums.

If we ignore their posts, and focus solely on the well-thought out replies to a position, they will get frustrated themselves.
Will they go away? Of course not. They will continue to try to incite rage, and lie at every opportunity. But you can deprive them our this jollies.

If we all ignore them, a few things will happen.
1. The threads will be a lot shorter.
2. The message that the masses have might actually seem clearer, when all the noise to replying to troll posts is removed. Like I said, the troll posts won't go away, but if our replies to them do, and we focus on facts, we might actually save our sanity.
3. These clowns know the forum rules backwards and forwards. They the precise line that they can never cross to avoid getting banned, while they hope you step over that line and then they can report your post and get YOU banned. Don't fall for it. Simply don't reply anymore.

Always remember, the vast majority of these trolls are part of a larger propaganda scheme designed to further an agenda.
If they can derail the thrust of the idea in a thread, or even get it closed, they are succeeding. And as an added bonus, these people hope to get their twisted jollies driving you nuts.

Don't let them do it.

And you mean well, OP but in the end, CCP aren't taking any of us serious.

Remember growing up, that guy in school who would go out and get the latest copy of Tomb Raider or Mortal combat, like everyone else at the time? He would get it home, put it in the console and immediately unlock all the weapons and infinite ammo and murder the game in 2 hrs. Come to school and proclaim the game sucked, it was too easy?

You could call him out, why did you use the cheats but the rebuttal was predicted. "It's not a cheat. They are in the game for a reason". Nothing you said mattered, he wasn't going to get it. He didn't play the game for the sake of the game. beating it was all he saw as value.

They are all playing EVE now, living in Null sec mostly but not limited to it by any means. We can't get rid of them without becoming one of them, sifting through the data dumps looking for those elusive I-Win buttons. Losing far more than we will ever gain. So we hide in little pockets of high sec, small areas of the game and try to enjoy the last remains of it, the parts the min-maxers haven't ripped to shreds but the cancer grows day by day. They aren't gamers, they are sploiters and cheaters.

EVE has been very good to you CCP. Ringing it out like a dirty mop seems wrong on so many levels but it seems to be what they have in mind.

Skydell, I agree with you on pretty much everything.
I think that is the point.

The jerk kid who cheated with Mortal Kombat is the ones that I suggest we ignore.
Yes, the game is rife with cheaters and liars, some of who do an awful lot of lying on these forums.

There is no way to stop them from posting.
But we can choose to ignore them.

They won't go away, and yes in game and meta-gaming they will do everything they can to destroy anyone they feel like griefing.
There is not much we can do about that in-game, but we can try to avoid giving them ANY satisfaction of a response to their trolls on the forums.

Consider this: If someone suicide ganks you in-game, the prudent thing to do is not post anything, as they will try to goad you into some kind of response to their inevitable gloating. This kind of person LIVES for some kind of hate response from their victim.
The same mentality is at work with the trolls here: They are essentially griefing you, trying to elicit a response from you in the forums, which they can then show off to their friends, or print them off and store in a box, whatever gets them excited.

So don't give them that pleasure.

I will not stand by and watch these forums adopt something that discriminates trolls! In many ways, the troll represent the free spirited nature of man and any attempts to limit the ways trolls express themselves is nothing but censorship and intrusion on rights to express oneself.

Taking that away, I fear, will endanger the rich culture of art, music and literature that trolls has contributed to time and time again.

Please. Think of the trolls.

I'm with you, OP.
We need constructives discussions.
We need to ignore trolls. Just stop answering to them.
Better.
We need, when we see someone fall into the trap, to tell him to stop feeding.
For the good of EvE.

I'm putting that in signature.

Don't feed the trolls.

Lol, what are you carebears on about? :D

Highsec is owned by players now. Systems 0.5-1.0 are New Order Territory. All miners and other residents of Highsec must obey The Code. Mining without a permit is dangerous and harmful to the EVE community. See www.MinerBumping.com

If people want to troll, then that's their decision. They've taken the time to hear your thoughts, why should you ignore theirs?

They love the line "adapt or die".
They love the line HTFU.
They love the terms "risk/reward" and "rebalance.
Unfortunately, none of that makes them trolls. In fact, quite often it makes them right — they have grasped the problem and know that solutions are at hand so there really is no more need for the whining that takes place.

So why is it that these responses can't be addressed? Why do they have to be ignored just because they're inconvenient?

sure let's do it. and so the forums will become a boring, sterile, black and white town where everybody commutes in subways from 9 to 5, and when they come back they found their wife sleeping with their best friend's wife.
