While I was very encouraged indeed to catch up on the list of faction contacts, a thought occured:

What happens to all the old Dev Actor characters? Are they doomheimed, kept for other plans or just shelved?

(Adwa Hurren, Haeldone Dorgiers, Vieve Creston to name but three, plus the several True Slave commanders)

That's an interesting point indeed, I do have fond memories of many of them. :)

A lot of the old characters are a one shot deal, where they'll be present as extras, but after a while they'll fade into obscurity.

There hasn't been a huge level of persistence in the past with Event actor characters, and that why so much time was put into making a set of faction contacts.

This is basically a way of starting off some form of persistence, and over time hopefully we'll have more regular and familiar faces in terms of people who can be recognized time and time again at live events for their faction Smile

I was actually looking into this the other day, specifically in relation to Citizen Astur, who was Sansha contact for the first return of Live Events. I also looked at checking out the other old old guys, like the way back in the day AURORA event characters. As said, a lot of them were biomassed in order to free up event accounts and the like and there's no easy way to bring them back. It makes more sense to start from scratch with them rather than try to recreate guys whose details have been lost.

That being said, I've pushed at least one old news article character in as a contact and I'll be looking to get more of them in if we iterate on their numbers.

Thanks for the replies guys, appreciate it Smile

Would be cool to see some of the old actors but I like this new system very much, so good job as far as I'm concerned Big smile

I would like to push for Haeldone to be ressurected. A major player and the most prominent empire supporter in the sansha wars with his nyx. I thought was a very important actor and would be nice to see more.

The ratting itself is PvE. Getting away with it is PvP.

For my 2 cents on this, I think it's akin to the latest season of Spartacus. The actor who played Spartacus in the original Blood and Sand series sadly passed on before the latest was filmed, and so was obviously unable to reprise his role. They hired in a guy who looks vaguely like him to play his character, and it just felt.... off. This team were not part of the old characters' creation, lifecycle or development and so us trying to play them may not necessarily ring true, which would be worse than just leaving them be IMO.

That's not entirely true. I was part of the volunteer AURORA events team, so many of the old old original event characters were ones I worked with at least passingly. Lol

I'd add one of the very old characters that I'd like to see again: the Speaker of Truths that judged Articio Kor-Azor. Oh, and Lord Darabi and Lord Miyan were very interesting too for fleshing out the intricacies of amarrian holder politics.

I too would like to see Brother Joshua pop up somewhere again.

As for Miyan and Darabi, go check out the Amarr Epic Arc (I was both the producer of that event arc and the writer of that mission arc) for a continuation of their stories.

I'll need to get myself into a decent ship before I can do the epic arc, but will love to see how all those events unfolded. :D And yes, Brother Joshua is a must! ;DD
