Good ship for suicide ganking miners

Hello there,


I am looking for advice for the most suitable class of ship for suicide ganking mining barges in high-sec. Specifically retrievers. the cheaper the better, would destroyers be the best option?

I know Goons have a lot of experience in this field.

Catalyst is your ship.

Carry about 15-20 rounds ammo, bout 100k ISK for all 8 guns. On the setups below you can add a third Mag Stab or second Dmg Rig if you don't think you will need the MWD though that means slow boating if they are off warp in. Overheat your guns a head of time.

Setup 1: Cost 18 Million ISK / 609 DPS overheat max skill.
Setup 2: Cost 14 Million ISK / 541 DPS overheat max skill.
Setup 3: Cost 07 Million ISK / 503 DPS overheat max skill.

Rough Concord response times.

0.9 / 7 seconds
0.8 / 7 Seconds
0.7 / 10 Seconds
0.6 / 14 Seconds
0.5 / 18 Seconds

The Catalyst with Ion Blasters is a good choice for me.

Fit:

Magnetic Field Stabilizer x3
Light Ion Blaster x8
Warp Scrambler

Rigs:

Small Hybrid Burst Aerator
Small Hybrid Collision Accelerator

If you are alone i recomend to fit a ship scanner so you can know if your traget is tanked or not.
Also train the ability to overheat your modules.

I have crap gunnery skills because my skills are focused on HAM and Caldari ships, but i can tell you that you will insta pop a Venture with that fit if the miner is dumb enough to not tank his new toy.

Will a Gallente destroyer do the job?

I anticipate being part of a gank squad, but I would like to know if it's possible to solo-gank retrievers?

The targets are almost certainly AFK bots, and are probably not tanked.

In 0.5 if they fit no tank and you have good gun skill and T2. Besides that bring a friend or two.

Retriever is about 10k Untanked, 15k DCU, 20k Full Tank.

it's funny. when i started playing you could get a fully fitted and insured rupture for under 10mil. now people fly 18mil destroyers to suicide ganks :/

Don't be so cheap! Use a Vindicator!

It might be a bit more expensive, but you get used to future destroyer prices early (when mineral prices rise more ;) - ships have to be made before you can buy them in Jita)

As of yesterday, over 40 billion ISK worth of mining ships including an Orca destroyed. This week. The ranks of the Knights of the New Order grow with each passing day.
