There should be ways to compress minerals ( not ores) to make them more mobile, this would reduce it's prices and make it less difficult to work with them. So, a couple of ideas:

How about add a new set of items: Compressed
Quote:

Compressed [ insert mineral name here] blueprint

Creates a compressed mineral block, that could be repossessed into large amounts of minerals.
The Idea is to make a large compression ratio. like 10 times, this would result in a high valuable item to be transported on Blockade runners

1m³ of tritanium = 600 isk
1m³ of compressed tritanium = 6.000 isk

1m³ of morphite = 800.000 isk
1m³ of compressed morphite = 8.000.000 isk

Quote:

Compressor [ insert mineral name here] container

A container that only minerals could be put inside that have a large compression ratio. exe: size 1.000m³ capacity 10.000m³

There are already mechanisms of doing this, 425mm railguns come to mind. This was not something which CCP ever intended to do but has become a necessary part of EVE because of the horrid nullsec ore ratio issues which makes mining Tritanium a non-option.

So yes, IMO there should be blueprints for Compressed XYZ minerals. They should be balanced using a combination of compression ratio, build time, and "extra" materials for wastage, although should still be at least on par with 425mms.

Now the real interesting question becomes... should you allow them to be sold on the open market? Or would they need to be reprocessed first.

Well... It being sold on the market would be a good doesn't it? As we already sell the 425mm...

Also, this item on the market would have a really close price to the mineral as it have no value other being reprocessed ... higher prices then the uncompressed mineral would make people buy the mineral instead of it... (and craft the compressed version and sell)

Look into the Rorqual and it's mineral compression ability.

I think you mean ORE compression.... No, it is not this...

People compress minerals by mannufacturing things, moving and latter reprocessing.

The Rorqual compress ORE... totally different things....

That's why it's something to be balanced based on build time and additional wastage.

Just look at T1 ammunition and the length of time it takes to produce. It's ridiculous.

If we use the item crafting for mineral compression technic using t1 bpo we would have at a maximum lvl this rates:

Isogen 4:1 Radio XL
Megacyte 5:1 Multifrequency XL
mexallon 12:1 Gas Cloud Harvester I
Morphite 0:1 Prototype Cloaking Device I
Nocxium 3:1 Gas Cloud Harvester I
Phyrite 37:1 Reactive Armor Hardner
Tritanium 46:1 Reactive Armor Hardner
Zydrine 2:1 Xray XL

But this have the drawback that uses more then a single type of mineral to assembly the "Compact Item"

So creating compact version of the item on a better rate, using single minerals and maybe some ice products would make things interesting!
