Once upon a time, we had this, but it seems to have gotten lost in recent versions. Can we have this feature back?

It didn't get lost, they deliberately removed it.

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

Yeah. just read the patch notes. Would someone fire whatever moron thought that was a good idea and put it back in?

They removed the feature as its not worth distracting developers from important features by having them maintain a feature that is usually turned off in favor of, and notably outclassed by, third party audio players

Look, we fought for this ***** ever since they shut off our ability to mod the in game playlist. It was, thus far, one of the very few player ideas that was adopted in it's entirty by CCP and the only one to take less than a year to actually get them to implement.

I don't want a 'context driven soundscape' which is the 'important feature' they're developing instead (fyi takes more coding and is more prone to bugs) I just want my damn tunes back.

I have a hard time getting the right volume mix with any out of EvE music player. It's always too quiet or drowning everything out, in game player mixed well and I miss it :(

Then use one of the 100+ third party media players out there.

The devs have better things to spend their finite time on than maintaining rackety old cold which was only jumping on the bandwagon of other third party media players in the first place.

Yes, but they have infinite time to create a system that changes the in game music to match the actions going on around you which takes far more coding. I wonder which one would hold back other content more, using the same code we have been, or writing all new code to do close to the same damn thing?

Franhoffer ? and in game licensing issues.
mp3 players have to pay royalties.

and could probably be patent trolled by some one like apple.

Based on how it's now screwing up my attempts to play mp3s in the background, no, she's still using franhoffer. And Apple, last I heard, does not hold a patent on mp3.
