Reprocessing and Extra Materials

If you already know about increased build requirements and extra materials, skip to the questions.

CCP increased build requirements for ALOT of ships in the last 2 expansions. To prevent people from creating minerals out of thin air (build ship before change for X materials, reprocess after change and get 2X materials back), they rolled up the increased build requirements into "extra materials" that you don't get back after reprocessing.

Is there any precedent for what happens now? In other words, will CCP eventually move "extra materials" back into "build requirements"?

Have build requirements for any items increased prior to Inferno?

Has there been any CCP mention about what they will do with the extra materials?

I'm not looking for people to predict the future. I'm looking for help in gathering historical data.

Unlikely. See structures. [Bombs also have extra to prevent them from being used for mineral compression.]

The "extra minerals" feature is something that should have been implemented when the first released manufacturing / reprocessing and is something players will need to get used to.

Realistically anything you make when broken down back into their raw materials would/should have some loss. Every item in game should have some degree of loss when you break it down back into its raw materials, and hopefully CCP will continue to include this in any new items added to the game.

Could you elaborate a bit? Did they change the build req's of POSes at some point?

I don't want to get to much into theory crafting, as I'm really looking for historical events similar to the current changes. But.......

I want to agree with you, simply because I'm a fan or more sinks*, less faucets. But, I want to think that 20.000 years (is that right?) into the future, we would've worked out recycling to be 100% efficient. Big smile

* I know someone is gonna wanna flog me on "sink", so I clarify: "Sink" in this context to mean a method/feature that permanently removes something from the game. I do not mean ISK sink.

The changes will lead to healthier profits for the entry level guy in the longrun.

Well, I guess that's good. But it doesn't answer my question about whether they have done this in the past or not (prior to inferno).

CCP adds PI, but doesn't remove NPC buy and sell orders. People buy from NPC, reprocess, manufacture more expensive modules, and sell back to NPC. Wash, rinse, and repeat to earn billions of ISK.

CCP are slow to respond. They remove the NPC orders, mark all reprocessed P4 as worthless "broken", and make structures non-reprocessable by marking all the materials as extra.
