I am somewhat confused about Aurum and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction, as I imagine the topic must have been covered already (although I have mostly found only rants one way or the other).

I think I understand why Aurum was introduced, but is the general consensus that CCP has abandoned the NeX store and the usefulness of Aurum in Eve? It seems that it is going to be a significant part of Dust514, so doesn't that somehow impact the value of Aurum in Eve, if the two markets are going to be linked?

I would hope we could just focus on what we know, as opposed to rants about the horrors of micro-transactions in fictional markets.

If CCP is going to support Aurum as a value transfer mechanism, it should have some value - probably more than where it is currently trading in Eve ISK terms. If CCP is going to abandon the concept, they are likely worthless.

Has there been a clear-headed economic analysis of this somewhere?

I don't know about clear-headed economics, but they haven't abandoned it just put it on pause. You see the expansion that stuff was released in pissed EVERYONE off, because the NEX stuff was too expensive and they wasted a whole expansion on something that, while being very pretty, had virtually no new content and fell way short of everyone's expectations. So the summer of rage, the Jita riots, blah blah, now CCP is understandable scared to iterate on that stuff for fear of inviting our rage again, but it's cool, give 'em a couple expansions, walking in stations isn't dead, and the NEX store has tons of ready to go items, CCP is just afraid to release them 'cause they don't wanna give the impression they've strayed from their spaceships job.

Highsec is owned by players now. Systems 0.5-1.0 are New Order Territory. All miners and other residents of Highsec must obey The Code. Mining without a permit is dangerous and harmful to the EVE community. See www.MinerBumping.com

Thank you, but I am not quite sure that is the whole picture.

If the Eve market is going to be linked to Dust and Dust will have game functional items for sale for Aurum, the original clothing only option in Eve is no longer the only facet of the cross-platform Aurum dynamic, or am I missing something?

Aurum in DUST will stay exclusive to DUST as far as we know. The part of the EVE economy that can be traded with DUST will all be ISK stuff.

Since all Aurum items are items that cannot be obtained by other means they have little effect on the player driven economy besides the facet of their resale for ISK

Thank you, but I still think we are not addressing the real issue.

It is not only the possibility of moving Aurum between the two markets that makes this interesting, You can move ISK between markets. This is certain. You can move items between markets. This is certain, but maybe not all of them.You can exchange ISK for AUR in EVE. You can buy ISK or AUR for cash in both.

There will be a linkage. The issue is what and how and whether we can make some money off of it.

You might be better off posting this question to the Market Discussions forum.

I have moved your other thread to the Market Discussions sub-forum found here. As such I will pop a lock on this thread as per the following rule;

As a courtesy to others before beginning a new thread, please look to see if an active thread on that topic has already been established. If so, place your comments there instead. Multiple threads on the same subject clutter up the forum needlessly and many good ideas may be lost. Keep discussions about one topic to one thread only.
