Security Status / Piracy

I don't know if this specific idea has been proposed before. I did a bit of searching on the forums (by no means exhaustive) and didn't see anything identical in nature.

Anywho, under the current system, you commit various acts of piracy, you lose sec status, yada yada etc. That part of it is fine, however if you want to regain that security status, you have one choice currently, which is to mindlessly grind NPCs for long periods of time to regain that security status.

I do believe you should lose security status for acts of piracy, I'm not advocating a free pass for ganking, none of that stuff, so please put your flamethrowers down and stop chomping at the bit for just a moment here, and hear me out.

I think that people who find themselves in a situation where they have a low sec status also happen to be people who enjoy PvP primarily. I do not think they are comprised largely of people who love ratting for hours on end. To this end, I think there are probably ways to improve how you go about regaining security status, and I will outline my ideas on this below:

1. Further subdivide security status, assign each of the major empires in high sec their own security status value. For instance you could have good security status in Amarr space, and be outlawed in Minmatar space.
2. As an alternative to mindlessly ratting for sec status, you can also improve your security status with the Amarr for instance, by killing Minmatar pilots, a la faction war.

Benefits to this:

1. Provides a much less boring alternative to maintaining security status, which still requires time invested, but at least you'll enjoy the time you're spending improving your security status now.
2. For roleplayers, I imagine this could improve immersion somewhat, sure you could remain an unaligned pirate and continue grinding sec status the way you do currently. You could also take on a more..privateerish role, align with a faction, and get sec status back by doing what you love to do anyway, PvPing. (uh..er...and...roleyplaying or whatever)
3. I suppose it could segment highsec somewhat, maybe some emergent gameplay opportunities here, more opportunities for smugglers or blockade runners (or more likely, just unaligned players and alts i guess, but who knows).
4. I would imagine it will have at least some impact on regional trade hubs, as people are funneled into the ones they more easily have access to.

Those are just off the top of my head.

As a lowsec PVPer I support additional ways to improve your sec status through in-game effort (no PLEX for Sec)

As far as dividing sec status between empires they already have this mechanic (Standings); Security Status as far as game flavor is concerned is regulated by CONCORD, which bypasses empire control as they deal specifically with freelance Capsuleers and any technology that is associated with them.

As far as ideas on how to gain sec status, I don't know; but I support the idea of more options.
