Ok so what is the maximum m3 people will be able to reach?
The same as now, meaning it'll be a slower weaker ship. That is a nerf.

And what is the maximum ehp?
The same as now, meaning it'll have a far lower cargo capacity. That is a nerf.

Souisa wrote:
if they max m3 what will the ehp be?
Far less than now. That is a nerf.

Take your own advice?

Hi mag.

What numbers are you basing that on?

The freighter stats as they are now and what they would reach with the best mods and rigs to get to what they are now. Blink

That's a great argument you have, maybe you can provide us with more info.

Or you could use your great math and prove me wrong. But remember, the new freighter must not exceed it's current stats with any modules fitted.

Edit: Maybe speed would be ok to increase from original stats, so you have some leeway. Big smile

So you admit you are wrong and I'm right, cool.
So why not ask for a new ship type?

the cargo expanders compound on eachother for a 62.5% increase. like i said, the max m3 would be just short of 1.6mil m3

if the ehp returned to 160k with a DC and reinforced bulks, then adding trimarks would buff that only another 16k ehp or something.

so its basically just as tough as now with a DC, or it has to lose half its ehp if u dnt fit the DC. rather than trying to skew things so that it doesnt completely mess up freighters, why dnt u just accept that this isn't going to work like u want. if u want a faster freighter then just go +1 the mini-freighter or use an Orca.

And if expanded cargoholds dont have stacking penalties, how come when you fit a ship with 3 cargohold optimisation rigs, and 2 expanded cargohold II's the total increase in m3 will only be 59.5%?

Do the math or gtfo tbh

lol i missed this...

ok lets do this:

the itty V has a base capacity of 6000m3. add three cargo rigs and gal indi to V this goes upto 11,406m3

the math for this is 6000*1.25(for skills)*1.15^3(for rigs) = 11,406m3...notice how everything compounds on eachother, there are no stacking penalties at all.

then lets add 5x cargo expanders: 11,406* 1.275^5 = 38, 431m3...which just so happens to be the capacity of my itty V

math done, minds blown...thankyou and goodnight

I dont know how it took 7 pages to point out i had the numbers wrong. I actually double checked it when someone said cargo expanders had no stacking penalties and updated my spreadsheet

Anyone who is still interested max increase in m3 with 3 rig slots and the 300 calibration and 2 low slots with 2 expanded cargohold II's is actually about 147%. Feel free to double check the spreadhsheet.

Question remains if you can balance the reduction in HP in accordance with the gain in m3 when using low-slots

I forget what we are discussing again Mag...

I installed pyfa where you can override ship attributes, ive been trying some different stuff on the charon and it looks promising. Lowering the structural hitpoints to 32k, a character that has all skills at level 5, who fit a DCU II and Reinforced Bulkheads II will get approximately 180k EHP.

Without it, the EHP will only be 87k.

On the other hand if he fits 2 Expanded cargoholds the EHP will drop to 72K. I assume we can make this drop even further by shifting some armor hp into structure, meaning the expanded cargoholds will be more devasting to the EHP. The only "problem" is that this pilot with expanded cargoholds will be able to achive about 1.6kk m3 cargo capacity. I personally think its fine. It just means more eggs in one basket if you know what i mean.

So, you think caps in highsec is fine then?

Probably not. They could have their volume increased to avoid it

it wouldnt take much to double the volume of caps, its not really considered in anything as far as i know. but its something else entirely to have to overhaul and tweak freighters to make sure nothing becomes too powerful.

for example, the 1.6mil m3 of space the charon would get is 60% more than a carriers maintenance bay and four un-packaged battleships. its a stupid amount, even if u have a tiny tank.

another spanner in the works is that a single module can make the difference between 180k ehp or 70k ehp. this module is also an active module and useless during afk hauling. yet this module is a must have if u want a decent tank (because if u could make a decent tank without it, then u can make a ridiculous tank with it). which is just a massive nerf to afk haulers.

adding slots to freighters is very upsetting to their purpose, and the ability to fit nano's does not justify having to overhaul freighters and change the stats of other ships.

far, FAR better to just +1 the mini-freighter thread to get ur faster freighter. and if u cant wait that long, then skill up for and buy an Orca
