Being disconnected while playing through a proxy

Intro:
The reason why I'm forced to play through a proxy is becouse my university is blocking all non standard ports. Only ports allowed are HTTP FTP Telnet and such.

Details:
I have set up a SOCKS server on my home box. The server software is CCProxy 7.2. After a couple of sleepless nights of configuring my router (Thomson TG782) and then finally chaning its firmware due to suspicions of ISPs firmware tampering with port forwarding, I have finally managed to establish a connection. Then the problems started. I login fine, and get ingame no probs, theres no lag, but I keep getting disconnected after a minute or so of playing.

The client software which I use on my laptop is Sockscap V2. I thought that the issue might be with the client software so I changed to Super Socks5Cap couse I have noticed that it has alot more options to fiddle with then the Sockscap v2. But alas, the problem persisted with the Super Socks5Cap. I played EVE on my laptop with no problems, so the laptop is not the issue.

I'm hoping that theres anyone else who has faced/is still facing same/similiar problems, or has some insight on how to work around the issue. I know that there is alot of stuff that can be cousing the issue I'm experiecing, but any insight would be welcome.

Details on the box and laptop:
BOX:
Win 7 64bit Ultimate
Phenom II x4 3.2 GHZ
4GB DDR3 RAM
Radeon HD4670
Connection bandwidth(Down/up):4Mbit/s - 256Kbit/s

LAPTOP:
Win 7 32bit Ultimate
Intel Core2DUo 2.06 GHZ
2GB DDR2 RAM
Radeon x1350
Not quite sure on the universities bandwidth capacity, but its something like more than 1MByte up and down
