Did one of your cohorts just bump the station hull outside my quarters?
I swear that loud bang was from one of them.

Never surrender, never give up, Drill Baby Drill!
I have not yet begun to fight! In fact I have never fought at all!
Okay maybe just a little, and I helped kill a carrier.

But really why charge for a mining permit, much less add the other requirements to it?
Why not just bump now and bump until you grow bored since it now appears to be ok?

Bumping for the sake of bumping probably counts as a breach of the EULA, bumping in the hope of the bumped paying the bumper some ISK, to be left alone and in the process abide by the code, has a purpose and is the same as holding a ship or pod to ransom.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

So, I just spoke to the GM Team regarding this to get some clarification:

Firstly, people who are bumped always have the right to petition. It is the right of any player who feels that they want to petition an issue to do so.

However, with regards to the rules in EVE Online our current view is:

  • Bumping is not considered harassment.
  • Bumping is not considered griefing.
  • Bumping is not against the rules.

It's actually been used for a long time to prevent warping as a rudimentary form of tackling when you don't have a point, or don't have sufficient disruption strength to keep someone pinned.

Along with that, the people that are doing this for the best part are in player corporations. If you don't like what they're doing, declare war on them so that you can punish them, or pay a merc corp to do so on your behalf if you don't want to fight.

There are plenty of options to counter this, if you use your imagination. Smile

Interesting, because a friend of mine nearly scored a ban for it. I think someone deserves an apology for that.

I guess the New order thinks they have a monopoly on bumping. They don't.

For every New Order doing their "noble work" there are 10 copycats because it is kool.

For every AFK Mackinaw that gets bumped there are 10 non AFK Wreathes with Gaussian mining lasers getting bumped in a starter zone.

And people pay a fee for what? So that they can AFK mine? So now you are protecting the behaviour that bumping was supposed to disparage?

My only point is none of this makes sense. What would make sense is if you bump me, using what CCP admits is a combat maneuver, you are now flagged and I have the opportunity to return the aggression in kind.

I mine once a month if that. But I have the bit between my teeth on this because I have a low tolerance for stupid.

I do like the idea of bumping triggering combat.
Set it so you do not solidify until you have exited the station bubble and thus there will be no fireworks heralding exits.

Thanks for being brave enough to type this.

Bumping and taking ISK to stop it, instead of reporting bad behavior (bots and AFK), should have consequences.

If the New Order complains about this, they are not true to their playstyle.

It does have consequences. Good consequences, for a good act. It's called karma.

As someone who griefs the **** out of people on a regular basis because it's fun, funny, and profitable, I cannot express how much I want something like this implemented. You have no idea how incredibly easy this would be to manipulate and exploit in order to kill tons of dumbasses, such as yourself.

CCP won't help. Miners, it's time to trade the Strip Miners for a full rack of Neutrons.

You don't like it? Kill them, kill all of them, and teach them not to mess with you.

Fight for your rights.

You do realize that if bumping were made an aggressive action, it would (most likely) be easy to game such that the miner was the one who got flagged for bumping the gank ship, which would promptly destroy the mining vessle, right? For example, I bump a miner with an alt into my main's ship. Since CCP wants to avoid individual aggression flags (as per the new crimewatch) both the alt and miner would end up receiving a 'bumping suspect flag'. The alt for bumping the miner, and the miner for bumping me. Can you guess which one gets shot?

You know it would be pretty easy to program around that, right?

And allowing individual aggression flags for bumping would also allow people to fully utilize the new bounty system by selling kill rights.

So it sounds like a winner to me.
