Hey guys. Is there a spread sheet somewhere that shows if Cadmium or Tungsten would be self sustaining for a Small POS? or are teir2/3 moons only self sustaining

Math is hard.

You know the rate that the POS burns fuel and the price of the fuel. you know the rate at which is pulls the goo out and the price of the goo. I think you can figure it out.

PS: Napkin maths with current prices according to eve-central.

Tungsten is not viable, but Cadmium is. The guy above me is right, assuming current Amarr Fuel Block prices -- 12k per unit in sell orders @ Jita 4-4, you would need to mine something that is worth more than 1200 ISK per unit to make profit.

Even then, it's gonna take weeks to reimburse your POS, and more weeks to pay the fuel you bought in advance. Also, your profits will vary greatly with the market variations. In other words, if it didn't get blown up after a month, your Cadmium moon will start making profit, at a very crazy rate of 72m per month. Is it worth the trouble to throw in carriers and dreads to protect it?

Best option these days would be to find a moon with Platinum and an extra moon mineral that can generate profits so you can put a medium POS. Also, small POS mining Plat are Dread magnets.

Also all the above is if you are living in low-sec or null NPC, ofc.
