and it's okay, someone's got to do it.
It's true, we need carebears like the ocean needs phytoplankton. They suck up the base materials and convert it into a condensed, more easily stolen nutrients for us predators. The funny thing about it is, they don't seem to know they're phytoplankton. Yes, of course they're the first ones to point out how 'vitally important they are, but they don't seem to recognize that this fact places them squarely at the bottom of the food chain.

I often read attacks made on PVPers by carebears to the effect of:
"Why do you bother with us? You're so pathetic! If we wanna bear about highsec what's it to you??? If you wanna PVP why don't you got to nullsec? The game would be better off without you. You just like attacking poor players who cannot fight back so you can get easy kills. "

I gotta admit, that last one is half-true. While I've never been much motivated by stats, I positively love killing someone who is completely defenseless. Have you ever tried it??? It's totally fun!!! Here are a couple of the easiest kills I've ever gotten:
May we have a moment of silence for the soon to be dead, time honored past-time of can-flipping.......
easy kill #1
easy kill #2

There we are, completely one sided engagements with players who don't even understand the mechanics which allowed for their death. It borderlines on griefing.
Now now, we can debate all day about the ~e-honor~ of this or what it says about me as a person and blah blah, but ask yourselves; Are not the douches necessary?

I have admitted that we need phytoplankton, now why can't the phytoplankton admit they need us? To be honest I despise carebears just basically on principle, they seem to hate me similarly. Could it be that some people/professions/philiosphies/playstyles are just naturally adversarial? I know we need carebears, but I'll continue to do my best to purge highsec of their putrid presence. I don't blame the carebears for despising me for it, but they know they need us... don't they?

Oh Anslo! If you're going to respond to this thread, please for the love of god, learn the difference between there, their, they're, to, two, and too!!!

Highsec is owned by players now. Systems 0.5-1.0 are New Order Territory. All miners and other residents of Highsec must obey The Code. Mining without a permit is dangerous and harmful to the EVE community. See www.MinerBumping.com

We dont need carebears.

Now its important to note that just because you are a miner or industrial player that doesnt mean that you are a carebear.

As luck would have it, we don't need carebears for that to happen, so no, we don't particularly need them.

Every time I see a "we don't need care bears" thread I wish I could magically give them what they are asking for and then sit back and watch as they hate what the game becomes.

I think it's funny you think you're a predator.

Or that you still believe in the "hierarchy" of nature.

Enjoyment of others' suffering

Sadistic personality disorder

The same ability may underlie schadenfreude and sadism. Recently, an fMRI study conducted by Jean Decety and colleagues at the University of Chicago has demonstrated that youths with aggressive conduct disorder (who have psychopathic tendencies) have a different brain response when confronted with empathy-eliciting stimuli. [52] In the study, researchers compared 16- to 18-year-old boys with aggressive conduct disorder to a control group of adolescent boys with no unusual signs of aggression. The boys with the conduct disorder had exhibited disruptive behavior such as starting a fight, using a weapon and stealing after confronting a victim. The youths were tested with fMRI while looking at video clips in which people endured pain accidentally, such as when a heavy bowl was dropped on their hands, and intentionally, such as when a person stepped on another's foot. Results show that the aggressive youths activated the neural circuits underpinning pain processing to the same extent and, in some cases, even more so than the control participants without conduct disorder. However, aggressive adolescents showed a specific and very strong activation of the amygdala and ventral striatum (an area that responds to feeling rewarded) when watching pain inflicted on others, which suggested that they enjoyed watching pain. Unlike the control group, the youths with conduct disorder did not activate the area of the brain involved in self-regulation and moral reasoning. [52]

Don't come down on me this is the medical term for people who don't understand empathy for others it's not that carebears don't want to play with you have you every considered maybe your too aggressive toward others?

Actually they don't need you. No carebear needs someone that griefs them. You however need them a lot since they satisfy your need to get easy kills and tears. Imagine if they all left, you might be forced to pvp against people who can actually fight back! oh the horror!

Actually, they do. Without the destruction in question, nothing the carebears did would serve any purpose, and they would have no tools to do it with.

Of course, the OP is still quite incorrect about the opposite relationship, as are you…

No they don't. You actually assume the only destruction occuring is the one of helpless carebears in high sec. That's nonesense. Many blow up in low sec, null sec and in high sec as a consequence of ward decs.

No she doesn't. Tippia says that carebears need us because of the destruction we cause. That includes destruction everywhere, not just hisec destruction of barges.
