Yarr fellow and non fellow pilots,

I have returned to EVE and wish to get clean! What would be the best course of action to take in order to reduce my security status to a minimum to be able to enter systems which are 0.4 and adjacent or next to stargates that jump into 0.5 and higher systems.

I simply wish to continue PVPing but I don't want to be so far away in null sec tangled up with alliances, and plan to use an alt to buy my stuff from high sec and xfer over.

I ask because in EVE i have never undertaken any "good" forms of gameplay, from day 1 all i have done is stolen, agressed, killed, and so on and landed myself at -9.0 and i dont even know how but i somehow managed to get myself to -7.9 which is what i am at the moment.

Any advice is appreciated.

Cheers!

best way to bring sec status up is to belt rat somewhere fairly unpopulated. Kill one battleship rat in one system and then move to another system and do the same. Rinse and repeat. My understanding is that you can only get a bump to sec status once every 15 mins in any one system but you can keep changing system and keep getting increases more quickly. So kill one and move on. Battleships > everything else. Doesnt have to be null sec but you will find more bs rats there.

Hop into a Stealth Bomber and go roaming around 0.0. Kill one battleship rat and move to the next system. Rinse and repeat. Just make sure that you don't engage rats with scramming frigates and have enough buffer to take some hits. Keep D-scan open and keep an eye peeled for hostile interceptors.

Wait, is he trying to reduce his sec status or increase it? What?

Well the title says he wants to reduce it, so here is my advice: Get all your friends to make newbie characters & pod them all in a smartbombing battle ship in a 1.0 system.

nice ideas here including this one.

but one question, can minmatar stealth bombers be fitted with guns? im pretty sure (but not certain) that stealth b's are supposed to be fitted with missles. My missle skills are lacking, but guns are good so if i do need to use that then i`ll have to sit in the station im in for a while and skill up in missles and stealth b's before getting into 1 lol.

which i dont mind of course, after all EVE takes a while to do stuff Lol

im trying to reduce it yes. i know it's -minus and some may consider that low, but i consider it high when you couple the words "high" with "bad, not good". i.e. reduce it from being such a low sec status. increasing it would be in my mind making it "higher" i.e. worse, more -minus.

... you CAN fit a Stealth Bomber with guns... yes... the problem though is that you'll deal laughable damage against battleship rats... because Stealth Bombers are bonused towards Torpedos. Sorry.

There are other options though.

Assault Frigates are the next choice. Fit for damage, they can tear through battleship rats and make mincemeat of the frigate rats too. They can also hold their own against some hostile players that show up.
The tradeoff however is that you may have issues staying safe ifwhen the thousand man horde comes to eliminate you. There is also less margin for error getting through warp bubbles and around gatecamps.

You can also run belts in low-sec... which is FAR more solo friendly. The tradeoff with that one is that you won't gain sec-status as quickly (the rats are worth less).

Hope that helps.

Stealth bombers do have two turret slots to go with the three missile slots. They're generally not used because the SB's primary punch comes from torpedoes, and the fourth high belongs to the covops cloak, but it's not uncommon for the fifth utility high to mount a frigate-grade turret, often an autocannon. (Except in null, where the fifth slot belongs to the bomb launcher.)

The turret in the utility high isn't meant for much beyond engaging an occasional point/scram/web ship. Bombers are too fragile and too easy as targets to be used as gunships.

On the sec-grinding note, chaining systems (Killing a high bounty belt rat in each system and moving on) is probably the method you should try. It works well to answer your query.
