I had a talk with a ISD earlier today, and was directed here after the talk... One thing that got my attention is this, If i as a player destroys a ship from a Amarr corp, ill loose standing with that corp and the Amarr. but what i think is unlogical and abit strange, i belong to Center of advanced studies, its a Galante Corp... and if anyone attacks me, shouldent they loose standing with this corp and the Gallante ?

Let me elaborate my thoughts, i am a capsular, id be a very important asset for any corp not to mention the Gallante, so if "normal npc ships" makes them angry, what would they be if you target one of their capsulars, and i pay the "high tax" so i think its very vallid and its sort of logical that you should loose standing from corp and federation, and not have oooh its a player your excused from the rules, feels kinda dumb and unlogical... in any case i hope that made sense, hope i dident bring up a already debated topic i looked but couldent find.. thanks, hope it can give ideas and keep it civil !

So basicly you propose to punish players for PVP action by loosing standing to the players NPC-corp and -faction they agressed? Is it not enough already that you cannot declare war against that NPC-corp and will never have a chance to make that player hiding in that corp a legal target via a wardeclaration?

I think I must have understood you wrong, please verify.

Yes that is exactly what iam saying, i am part of a Gallante corp, that belongs to the Gallante federation, why shouldent players loose standing shooting at me, when they loose standing shooting at npc ships belonging to the Gallante ?, just dont make any sense to me, and as for punish pvpers, im not sure i understand, no one forces anyone to attack, pew pew anouther target, im just pointing to that standings should behandled the same, shouldent be diffrent just couse im a player or npc

Well, I think they shouldn't. Points already made in my last post.

For clarification: In EVE no player should be able to avoid PVP interaction.

I havent been long in Eve, but reading through the sources and speaking to people, my understanding is that Eve is a massive sandbox set in a universe, thats not just a shoot em up game, its a alive universe, with laws, factions corps, where actions have consequenses, yes you are free to do what you want, and to my understanding i wouldent be imune to attack, nothing stopping anyone from attacking me unless they wish, it just come with a realistic consequence, in wich how the Eve universe works, and me as a new player, just this fact that Eve is more then just a shoot em up game, this is what thrills me, its alive, with rules laws and history, where you are free to act, but the Universe reacts back upon your actions !

I am abit unsure of what you mean with herp and derp, sorry for my newbness ;P ... but things usually work both ways, and there are more ways to deal with trolls then to simply pew pew them, atleast if Eve is this rich alive Universe its soposed to be

They get the sec hit....be happy with that.

One reason for no faction hit is its a motivator to actually do pvp. My journey into pvp started with weekend low sec fun runs while still empire based . Take my sec hits and not get shoot on site for faction or wreck my factions standing shooting whoever as a weekend warrior. the sec hits sucked alone to fix (was not aiming to be -10 lol) but fixable running level 3/4's for caldari space. Would suck ass to trash my caldari rep and fix that in level 2's. Or wreck say gallente standing in the process.

Also if killing players counted for faction standing you'd have other issues. If by killing you I hit my gallante standings....by rights it should boost my caldari standings. So with your system in place you now create another mechanism to fix standings. One that works pretty damn good. Kill a few player ships (no poddings) on monday, carebear to fix sec status 4 days, and go pop some gallente on friday. Be some real nice faction standing injections right there. Sure as hell beats the crap out of the money pit datacenters are at the higher level tags (they are pricey).

Even better is if I really don't care about ever leaving caldari space....man I can find tons of domis and such to shoot in caldari space. Farm up some nice pos standing capable alts this way lol.

TL;DR......what you seem to be planning as a gank eliminator and actually encourages it basically.

Zan, thanks for the reply

My thoughts to this was not to affect anyone, or try to "punish" players, i merly noticed that in this rich Universe, things were not handled realistic or same, and it just bugged me, either im in a Gallente corp, part of the Gallents Federation, wich ewen my tag states i am, or i am not... and should thus be handled the same, regardles if im player or npc...

I shall admit i am not very much of a player vs player, but i accept the fact of that being part of Eve, and that it will someday hit me, but this said, try look on this from a bigger picture, im sure you all have plenty of targets as it is, but do you want new players, and players that want to trade, build invent, actually fuel the war machine some of you all love, you still can target me, ewen kill me, i just dont understand why the big issue with things working realistic, and according to how other things work...

Either way, im sure developers can tweak this out so it works both ways, thanks, and its not hard to look at a target first, oooh its a Gallante pilot, hmmm maybe i shouldent shoot, couse i dont want to grind standings ;P ... actions and consequence

This could replace the sec hit for people in NPC corps.
Meaning it would actually be less protection, since it wouldn't result in red flashy -10 standing killing people in an NPC corp, just a very mad faction navy.

That would keep it balanced and actually provide a small incentive to move into a player corp, while still providing Faction navy protection if someone if griefing your NPC corp. (& normal Concodokken effects)
