Duality Open Period - 26/10 to 30/10 and 05/11 - 08/11

This weekend Duality will be coming online courtesy of the EVE Gameplay teams. This time we're taking a look at Retribution in the works.
So for you tldr people out there, this is for you:

Duality will be online starting Friday October 26th.
It should be online from 13:00 or shortly after
The server has been beefed up a bit. So that it should perform much better than previously.
Super Friends will be online on Duality, from 17:00 UTC Friday October 26th. (And probably a few more developers too.)
Duality will remain online until the morning of Tuesday October 30th.
If you are going to be on Duality join the chat channel Duality. I will be in that channel offering any support I can for people testing, answering questions, and testing myself. If you need to be moved I will be happy to help you from that channel while I am online.
I will be moving people to our test system 6-CZ49, to assist with bounty hunting. (And also having fun)


Features available to test:

Team Super Friends really wants you to check out some of our features for EVE Online: Retribution. But the list won't stop at just our features!

Here is a quick feature list for some key areas:
(Please provide feedback specific to these changes, to these following forum threads)

Team Super Friends - Bounty Hunting. ASB (Ancillary Shield Booster) changes. Salvage Drones. Micro Jump Drive. Reactive Armor Hardener changes.
Team Five 0 - AI Changes & More.
Team Pony Express - HUD changes
Team Pony Express - Changes to module tooltips
(Also note that the HUD changes include a work-in-progress new in space damage notifications)
Team Game of Drones - Unified Inventory changes
Team Game of Drones - Attack Cruisers
Team Game of Drones - Combat Cruisers
Team Gridlock - Fleet Hangar changes

Mass Testing AI

On top of this, Team Five 0 would like to run a mass test on Monday, October 29th, at 14:00 EVE time. During this time we would like to test the performance impact of the new AI having been applied to everything. For details about this mass test, see FoxFour's thread here.

Known Issues

  • There will be no ship explosions in this build.
  • The search functionality (for players, systems etc) is not yet working.


Connecting to Duality:

Copy your main Eve install to a different folder.
Then create a shortcut to that folder's launcher (eve.exe).
Right click on that shortcut on the desktop, go into "Properties" and in the "Target" field put a space after the last entry in the field and type /server:87.237.38.60 to force the launcher to point towards Duality.
Once you run that shortcut the launcher will download the most recent patch for Duality and get you ready to connect.

And for Mac people, please use the following wiki page to set yourself up:

1. Download Test EVE Online tool here
2. Move it to wherever you want to keep your test client, note that there will need to be at least 15GB of free space
3. Run the application, choose a server, wait for it to update to the latest version currently running on that server and then hit play

Also worth mentioning, Duality received a new Mirror yesterday. So your characters should be up-to-date. Blink

sounds like the most awesome thing ever invented

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

All the previously announced Ship and Module changes will be up and running tomorrow! That means Support Frigates, EWar Frigates, Exploration Frigates, Combat Frigates, Rebalanced Destroyers, New Destroyers, Attack Cruisers, Support Cruisers, Ewar Cruisers, the ORE Frigate and all weapon and rep changes including Version 2.0 of the Missile changes!

Makes me tired just typing it all. Smile

:Edit: Combat Cruisers won't be in this build due to Fozzie Error. Everything else is there though! Oops

Which is best, to update our current Duality or start afresh with a new copy of TQ?

Any idea of the download size?

I recognize it may be impossible at this date, but why don't you seed the NPC hubs with faction mods.
If you want a proper test of the AI, under conditions closest to TQ conditions, I think you need to add faction mods.

Case in point: My Ishtar is a dead duck tank-wise and has serious fitting issues if I don't use faction shield mods.
And the vast majority of PvE players fit faction items to their boats to maximize tank and DPS.

With a fresh mirror just buy them off the sell orders.

I updated a known issue: There will be no ship explosions in this current build (sorry!). It's been fixed for the next time we update Duality though. It just didn't make it in the build I started today in time.

Update your current Duality client so you have to download less.

Update your current Duality.

TQ to duality build from last weekend was a huge patch it should be even bigger this weekend.

Please all come and test the latest snapshot of the EVE Online: Retribution expansion this Friday and weekend. The scheduled deployment is 4 Dec so we have about a month and a half to gather your feedback, and then finish, polish and ship it!

Please give us feedback in the forum threads the teams have posted; give us detailed feedback and even better if it's both detailed and constructive feedback. Expect us to troll you if you are rage-quitting already instead of helping us because co-operative game development of our shared world is the best game development.
