I cannot seem to get a straight answer on this.

currently on the test server, if you shoot an NPC and then log off / disconnect, you e-warp and stay in space for 15 minutes.

You can get easily probed down and killed.

If shoot an NPC, warp to a POS and log out I dont know what happens (all my POS's are despawned on the test server).

Soundwave (apparently) stated at EVE-Vegas they were NOT going to have 15min log out timers but instead 60 second., however i can find no written statement to that effect

and the test server says otherwise.

This chart that came with the crimewatch dev blog says NPC timers will be 15 minutes.

Who put the goat in there?

Your ship despawns in 15 minutes, however during that time the ship will remain inside POS shields unless bumped out.

So if you are in a plex in lowsec you can't just log off and never die, as opposed to warping to a station and docking, with a similar amount of effort and a lot less worrying?

I believe the information you seek can be found in this Dev Blog with more detail to be found in this Chart.

I believe the 60 second log off timer he was referring to related to people who have been aggressed, but who did not return that aggression by means of activating any offensive modules. Have you tried going into a mission, waiting until you have been aggressed, and then logging off without returning fire to see if you do infact get a 15 minute timer?

Personally, assuming thats the mechanic and doesnt bug out... its still bullshit.

Bumping someone out of a POS is pretty easy if they arent setting keep at range or orbit on the tower.

That's definitely not how it works now, and it's not what they're planning on doing.

This would mean that if you get overwhelmed but have enough buffer tank to survive for another minute, you can just log off and your ship will disappear and your enemies can't do a damn thing about it.
They got rid of this for a good reason.

That's assuming of course they can get within the POS shields, which should be impossible if you don't use passwords.

From Soundwave regarding this issue...

@Shadowlighteve We're reviewing what specific value it will have. It won't be 15 minutes, if you're worried about that :)
