Ship Personal: New Addition to New Eden

One thing is most fundamental for all ships, regardless if the pod can control everything about it or not, is the crew. An crew is normally used to keep all ships within required working order and keeps engines running while the captain focuses on important tasks. This would bring more meaning to players gameplay, increasing the players ability to aggressively attack or defend in systems that are located in null, low, or high sec while adding onto the lure of New Eden.

For the first time, the crew is defined as an assets to players! Unlike modules, rigs, or subsystems; an crew can be deployed and doesn't require to be equipped to the ship. Ship Personal will be placed within their respective areas and will automatically give a boost to players abilities, while some are used to defend the ship from aggressive hostile takeovers by other players. Players will also be able to launch marine personal to attempt a hostile takeover of a ship or defend their ships with security personal from the hostile takeovers. Hostile takeovers will take multiple attempts to take over a ship, this is officer boosts and personal numbers, which gives more realistic feeling to the game.

I am going to leave all bonuses blank for now.

New Gameplay: Boarding and Defending Ship

Boarding
Considered an Pilot Asset. By using Marine soldiers, players are able to send as many fleet personal as they want to take over another players ship. If successful the player will be ejected from ship and the ship will become an ally NPC for a limited amount of time, this will allow to turn the tide of battles depending on what type of ship was taken over, when time is up the marines will return to your ship. How many soldiers and officers that can be sent to a player ship depends on the capacity of rapid assault shuttle used. Marine Chief's role is to extend the amount of time the personal have control of ship before they abandon it and return to player ship.

Defending
Considered an Pilot Asset. Defending the ship depends on how many security personal and security officer's boost which allows players to defend the ship more efficiency. Security Chief increases the amount of health the security officers have until he or she is killed in action, same goes with all other security personal. If you fail to defend your ship from hostile takeover, this result in you being ejected from your ship which can leave your pod vulnerable to fire so stock up on security personal and hope for the best.

Note: If the ship is not claimed after battle, any player will be able to board ship and claim it as theirs. To ensure no one claims the ship as theirs while you dock at station or capital, you may leave security personal on the ship to defend it while you are away. Any player who tries to take the ship will require to send an assault team to take the ship to eliminate security personal.

New Trade Good: Shuttles

Rapid Assault Shuttles
These shuttles are used to transport marine soldiers and marine officer to another ship in order to take them over. Players who are smart will shot these shuttles, replenishing any hostile takeover attempt by another player. How many personal transported depends on the capacity and type of shuttle that is in use.

Note: Considered an Pilot Asset.

Transport Shuttles
These shuttles are used to deliver important passengers to another ship, adding an new type of missions for the game. These shuttles are very vulnerable to outside fire, which can lead them to being destroyed and mission failed. It is important to protect these ships or wait till all enemies are destroyed before transporting important passengers. How many passengers transported depends on the capacity and type of shuttle that is in use. Players may also use these shuttles to transport personal to other ships, giving a extra boost to the players who lost personal.

Note: Considered an Pilot Asset.

As I said in the last idea about "ship takeovers"...

I am an immortal demi-god whose brain is hooked into every sensor and switch in the ship. If I detect unwanted stowaways in my ship, why would I NOT seal off and depressurize the compromised sections of the ship, open them to space, and vent plasma through them? Sure... I lose some crew... but according to the lore they are a dime a dozen and 15 thousand ISK can effectively put someone on contract for life.

/lolrp

But seriously... PvP combat doesn't last long enough for this to be viable. Small skirmishes go about 1 or 2 minutes. Big fleet battles last for hours... but that's only because there are so many people. As soon as a ship gets primaried it is often dead in less than 30 seconds.
I could see Pirates trying to use this to capture sexy ships in gatecamps... but the victim is likely to just self-destruct the ship.
Same goes for mission runners.

It is suppose to add a new gameplay while making players feeling like actual captains of their ship. I designed it for big fleet battles mostly and pirates, maybe some players who like to experiment. This is basically adding an actual crew to your ship, offering advantages and disadvantages. Of course the number of people is limited to the capacity of the certain area on the ship. You did give me a idea about depressurizing certain areas of the ship, of course it should be on an time limit due to the A.I. assault crew moves through certain compartments while security A.I. tries to counter that...

Seriously, you spent a lot of work and time thinking through the details. ShahFluffers is correct in his statement, this would take a large amount of programing and balancing as well as force every player in the game to adapt to one more level of depth that they probably wouldn't want in the first place. You say you design it specifically for large fleet battles and pirates but ignore the fact that most ships in large fleets, once primaried, don't last longer than a few cycles of the enemies guns.

You're very passionate about your idea's but sometimes you need to step back and listen to what other people are telling you.

surely the amount of posts this took to explain this should show the massive complexity and flaws to this.

also, why would one spend minutes to take over a ship when they can burn through it with turret love in a matter of seconds.
agreed crews are a dime a dozen and so are many ships. there are no significant gains to spending time and resources to capture someone elses ship.

boardings like this dont even happen in real life, only in tv. seriously, when was the last time u heard about a commando or seals team stealing someone elses ship in the middle of combat. or some crack team planting an explosive in a crucial fuel storage room. in reality (and eve) ships blow each other out of the water using good ol' fashioned firepower.

Also... in EVE the capsuler IS the ship. you are mind linked to it. there is no better upgrade then this... only NPCs uses crews... and they are no match for capsulers skills.... Star-trek is past!!!

Yes and no. All ships have crews... the capsuleer ships just use far less (because the pod pilot replaces the traditional command structure of the ship... which means that all one really needs are maintenance crew).

Only way to make this make sense lore wise would be to use Dustbunnies.

And that would be a technical MARVEL to pull off in a non gimpy way.. even then it would prolly be caps only

actually for recruiting the crew, instead of adding a skill, make use of certificates (with 4 level of certificates each level adding to the skill of your crew under your guidance). would add a more practical use for the certificates in this case

and at the same time, with recruiting crew members, CCP might be able to add another ISK sink they have been looking for
