Extremely so.

I wonder, what is the number of people who have PI facilities, and of them, which would bother to continue PI after this?

Thanks for the heads up Mara. Lots of interesting things happening in the market. They basically listed the items that you needed to buy asap.

Any colour you like.

Seems to me that they are trying to push PI into low and null by highsec nerf (double taxes on hisec offices)

I wonder if OP has anything to do with all these "89day 23hour left" sell orders for all these components at inflated prices.

Damn nature, you scary!

One Customs Office per planet will keep life interesting.

CCP love people hauling stuff in low/null. Gives all their alts good shooting practice. Thus the constant attempts at moving carebears to low :)

They should allow high-sec player owned Customs Offices as well. They could use charters or Concord could charge a monthly fee. Possibly corps with a certain number of installations could have the right to a station. There could be an upper limit to the number of stations per planet.

This is going to lead to some fun times in wormholes. It'll be fun to see wormhole carebear corps try to defend their customs offices which I'm pretty sure quite alot of people will attack just to lure defenders out of their POS bubbles, I know I probably will.

It would be great, if some corp had customs offices on all the planets in a system, and somebody reinforces them all. Warpfest.

So much better for immersion as well. W-space lost some of its charm when these Customs Offices suddenly appeared around these uncharted planets.

I've never done PI so I'm not sure how relevant this is but at the end of the dev-blog it is briefly noted that PI bandwidth will be increased five-fold. Will this balance out the expected extra demand for PI goods or is this kind of increase less dramatic than it sounds?

Not very dramatic link costs arent that high. Might mean you get one or two more structures on your planets.

Also, POS fuels! look at'em go! Shocked

I'm surprised there isn't more discussion along these lines:

The day this goes live on TQ, all customs offices in lowsec, nulsec, and w-space vanish. Any PI production requiring importing will be affected until the new customs offices are built and deployed.

Customs offices will require CONCORD or FW LP for a limited run BPC. These people will be tasked with grinding LP for all the customs offices. Will there be enough LP to supply demand? I suspect not, unless the BPC are exceptionally cheap.

Then there is the fallout of interrupting PI production in lowsec, nulsec, and w-space until an average of say 6 customs offices are deployed per system.

There is likely to be a huge spike of PI related demand (POS fuel, structures, and T2), as those manufacturing for their own consumption will now be forced to buy from the market, probably resulting in a shortage until most systems have customs offices in place again... which could be a while depending on the LP / BPC cost situation.

This last line is interesting....

Quote:
Oh and one more thing, we have increased the bandwidth on all planetary links by a factor of five! Get those materials flowing!

This will basically allow me to deploy 2-3 nodes per planet..

High-Sec
Increased TAX
vs
Not needing to "upgrade" links allowing you to deploy more nods, hence more materials per cycle..

Low/Null-Sec
Corporate TAX increase (Who wouldn't run it at 100%)
Increased requirements for PI Corps/cost
vs
Not needing to "upgrade" links.

On the upside, it's not preventing anyone from farming planets, just they are limited to the "Launch" capability and cost.
If the Corp set TAX is too high, why would you use it when you can just launch smaller loads into space.

Warp to planet is different then warp to customs office, so are these offices broadcasting their location or do you need to probe em out.. I would assume Broadcasting but why would you want that as a corp.. These things will die a billion deaths!

I don't know if PI will increase in price much to be honest.. One of the bigger gripes of PI is not enough volume or profit to be worthy of producing a lot, rather producing what you need. Increasing the links capacity makes it easier to get more product. If this is an increase in product, more people might start doing it flooding the market. Though I doubt it..

TAX Increases basically assures of a price increase, but it's based off the previous tax, there was breaking points in PI because of that. A lot of the PI I do/did I hardly every touched the export tax until it was final product, and I only imported the cheap low grade stuff.

A quick excel check bumps up end price 0.3% for me.. not exactly a huge hike, I guess I'll cash in on others ignorance while I can.. Pirate

I can see it helping PI in Sov 0.0, since they can run tax free, or at worst fill the corp coffers vs feeding the isk sink.
PI in WH space is going to have another challange, but once they get set up they can still run tax free if they choose. With a 24hr reinforce timer, roaming gangs looking to extract tears will just be an irritation to their COs, but dedicated groups willing to get lost in WSpace are going to give them fits.
In low-sec and NPC 0.0, PI is going to be pretty dicey for anyone not part of a group large enough to defend a CO against whomever happens to come along. I'm waiting to see how many of those COs are set to allow access only to blues, and how many will have 100% tax rates.

My big question from all this... With the CO BPCs only seeded at the FW & Concord LP stores, how long is it going to take to fill the supply chain and get the global PI machine moving again?
