How are they found? I see lots of empty market slots for some ships and I'm curious as to how to produce blueprints, I know you can create copies but how do you acquire new ones? Is there some skill I need to train in order to produce them? I'll be checking the wiki, but community members sometimes have info guides miss ;-)

You buy them from the market (where they're sold by NPCs (or sometimes players.)) or from contracts (from players)

All Blueprints bought on the market are unresearched originals, with no limits.
Blueprints bought from contracts may be originals or copies. Copies can't be copied, or researched. Originals can.

It's also possible to get copies from some exploration sites, but these are rare, and specific types.

Thanks for the reply! So if say one is missing in the market there's no way other then a contract or finding it by chance? I was hoping higher level industry people could "produce" them but from what I've read we can only build on the originals (making them more efficient and such) If you couldn't tell I'm rather new to the industry side of Eve, and would like to learn more, If you have any references/guides I would appreciate the links greatly!

If one is missing from the market, it's entirely possible that it's just not being sold in the region you're in.

You have a few options to find them, if that's the case. My preference is to check somewhere like http://eve-central.com/ and run a search for the blueprint. that way, you can find out where things are being sold.

As for handy tips:

Get Production Efficiency 4. 5 is better, and should be a short term goal, but 4 is pretty much essential. Otherwise you're throwing isk away. Without it, you have 20% being added to all your materials (regardless of blueprint ME) .

Get used to the way ME and PE on blueprints affects things. /Always/ run the numbers, rather than assuming something like 'Drakes are popular, thus I'll make huge profits' (It's not true. The margin tends to be tiny. or loss making) Running the numbers can be as simple as using a blueprint calculator like the one on my site.

Read the wiki page on it. Read the ISK guide on it. Go look at the Eve uni wiki.

As far as NPC sold BPOs go the BPOs that they sell depends on the faction and the corp. For instance you wont see the Amarr Navy selling a rifter BPO or a tempest BPO. Also it's effectively impossible to get T2 BPOs, you get T2 BPCs from inventing from a T1 BPC.

The meta 1-4 items cannot be manufacture and are only found from loot drops, meaning that for any one item the only variations you can build will be [Item] I or [Item] II. (i.e. Damage Control I and Damage Control II)

Ships work most the same way, special ships like the pimrae or zephyr cannot be built but faction ships like a tempest fleet issue or a omen navy issues can be built from a BPC you get form an LP store. The pirate faction ships can also be built from BPCs but these are usually found deep inside of pirate complexes.

Faction modules work much the same way. Certain LP stores have blueprints for things like federation navy webs or Imperial navy issue armor reppers.

Note that producing faction modules in this way usually requires some special skills besides just Industry

EDIT: I said you get T2 BPOs from invention, i meant BPC

also T2 BPOs do exist but are VERY rare and already held by older players, buying one would cost more than a titan.

Also a link to invention: http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Invention

Ahh so there is more to FW then just pvp! I figured there would be some form of purchasing system based on the LP. Faction production would be something new, as well as faction warfare in general. Thanks for the info! =)

Most of the LP stuff I'm referring to can be bought from normal LP stores, but there is certainly a bunch of stuff exclusive to the FW LP stores.

For instance all of the "smaller" faction BSes are only available from the FW store (Scorpion, Dominix, Typhoon, Armageddon) where as the mid level faction BSes are available from pretty much all the LP stores for that faction (Apocalypse, Megathron, Tempest, Raven)
