Kill rights question... (answered via dev: YES killrights will carry over to Retribution)

So if you get ganked in empire and have a 30 day killright on someone a day before the winter patch, will that disappear with the new killrights-purchasing system?

Edit: Sorry, just wanted to be clear about what is being asked here because some seem to have confusion about it... maybe I worded it poorly so let me try again:

OK. The expansion (Retribution) comes out on the 5th of December (probably) and with it comes the ability to sell your killrights to other players. This is NOT the bounty system. This is selling a killright.

So put yourself in this situation: It is December 2nd (before the expansion is released) and you are flying through empire in an unfit Badger. You enter a .5 sec system and are ganked by 2 (badly fit) Tornados. At this point you will get killrights, which last for 30 days, on the two pilots piloting those Tornados. On December 6th (AFTER the expansion is released) you log in again. Do you or do you not still have killrights on those two Tornado pilots? Were those killrights deleted when the expansion was applied and the new killrights system implemented, or do you still have the killrights, which can now be sold?

The reason I asked was b/c I thought it might be fun and profitable to create and alt and send his pod on dangerous autopilot paths at work over and over again in lowsec. When the expansion hits he can cash in and enjoy some lulz. Big smile

Fresh alt character is created. Pod is piloted to 1 jump from lowsec, where he transfers medclone. 200 jump lowsec route is set in autopilot. Autopilot engaged and client minimized so I can get RL work done. Come back every 20 mins and undock clone and set autopilot again. Rinse/repeat. A week later: killright city. Alt profits. Empire PvPers profit. Heros of empire cry tears.

Some quick cash to take you into the new expansion? Sounds like a really simple plan to me.

Iam not ccp and dont know what there thinking but something tells me after patch day with the new reworked kill rights if you have kill rights before the patch youll have them after makeing it much funner to hunt the SOB that ganked/t tryed ganking you.

As for the Bounty system you should read how it payouts will work.

Your first question is a good one but the story of the ibis pilot would not have kill rights on the Hero for the fact idiis was flaged and red to the hero and was shot legal now yes you can put a bounty on the hero pilot per the new system but as for the kill rights the ibis pilot is SOL. So reread the post from ccp on the new kill right system and bountys so you have a better clue how it works before opening a post that you clear have no idea what your talking about. Btw 80 mil bounty will start off with a 20% payout for the kill then it will add in more but that upto how much the loss was worth but payout not much when you think there are pilots right now with bils of isk on there head and that isk is going to be gone come patch day.

So do everyone a favor and reread the ccp post and learn of what your talking about before posting.

You only get kill rights of your illegely attacked. So reread the post. If your steal a can and get poped for it that a legel kill no kill right coming from your ibis loss yet again know what the hell your talking about. Kill right only happen when your illegaly attacked with the new kill rights.

I thought you got a killright if you were killed from stealing from cans but some people are telling me no...


Nope kill right only come into play if your illlegaly attack if your flaged and red your a legel target if you flag and lose your ship no kill rights for the flaged player.

Yup I'm a jack***. No killright for stealing from cans. That's OK though... just pilot an unfit indy through lowsec for a thousand kills or so. I'll find another way to do it. ...not before finding the answer to the question if killrights are going to carryover into the next expansion.

Heres another question that is about the up and coming kill rights and bounty change.

Since eveyone starts fresh when the new system is rolled out, what happens to the ISK(bounty) that was placed on a person? They said it will all be reset, but if a player was to place a bounty on another player that is now not going to be collected shouldnt that be returned to said player? Shocked

Yeah I know its usless to place bounties on players becuase they can just use a alt to collect it. After going over the changes this one kinda stood out as a issue for those who have done it in the past. While flying around doing missions i see these guys with massive bounties and just think of all the wasted ISK that wont be collected on by anyone.

Anyways, thats whats on my mind...

Any thoughts?

The Devs already said that any existing bounties would be sucked into the black vacuum of space, never to be heard from again. ...so if the one on you is significant, might want to get an alt to take care of that for you before the expansion.

This thread is confusing me? I don't understand the point.

It seems like the OP is saying that people will be able to pay money for kill rights, which is a feature in the upcoming patch. Is he saying he doesn't like the feature?

I'm asking if killrights before the expansion patch will carry over after the patch.

In other words, if you, Carlton, are ganked in empire on the day before the patch, will you still have a killright on the ones who ganked you after the patch (as killrights last for 30 days)?

Edit: In fact... I can't say enough good things about the new killright system. I do want to say a few more right here though. Think about the awesome implications: Anyone who ganks another player or blows them up in lowsec (assuming they aren't using a killright/dec/whatever) is going to have a killright which, in all probability, is going to be public! Sec Status is going to start to really matter! People might be more reluctant to attack in lowsec, but the highsec laughs will never end! I can't wait... really.

Ahh! Thanks, did some checking but not deep enough it would seem. Lol My time for Eve is usually limited along with my searching for information.

Surge in bounty collecting maybe?

Keep in mind in low sec you'll have to fumble around after getting blown up so that they can take out your pod also... well, after the new system comes on line anyway.
