Ninja looting / Autotargeting

Okay,

Maybe I didn't label this post so well. I am rather new to Eve so I am not down with the correct lingo yet.

The scenario:

I am out running a mission, and in flies Joey the wreck eater. Joey starts looting and salvaging my wrecks, and because they are mine he turns red.

Now, I know the scam. He wants me to attack him so he can warp scramble me and his 2 buddies in ultra fitted pvp ships fly in and destroy my Abaddon. Maybe even hold me hostage for ISK or they pod me and I loose my implants. Got it. So, I'm not going to attack him. That would be dumb unless I plan things really carefully.

But, if I continue to do my mission and just let him eat all my wrecks is there any chance that I might accidentally attack him? The last time this happened I auto targeted. Though I didn't fire. Is it possible that my drones might attack him or something?

I guess what I'm saying is this - is it possible for me to safely continue the mission without targeting him or attacking him?

Thank you for input.

Turn off the "auto target back" settings under General.

As far as I know, drones won't attack another player unless you order them to.

Also, blow up your wrecks right when they reach them, after a bit of boating around they will likely bail for easier prey as you have no qualms about losing your stuff.

Your drones can retaliate to direct aggression from other players on their own, but they will never attack a thief unless you specifically order them to. You can set the auto-target-back to 0 to prevent any targeting accidents.

You seem to be misinformed about this part however:

He will either kill you with the ship he's in, or get another one, but none of his buddies will be allowed to attack you for your legal aggression towards him.

If you have room in your drone bay use ECM drones, that way if he does scram/disrupt you, you have a chance to GTFO

I had thought that if I attacked him for looting my wrecks, his Corp Mates would be able to attack me as well. Is that not the case?

You can always try to one shot your 'wreck eating' buddy.

Ships that can deliver damage - artillery, possibly blasters. If their tranversal becomes less than 100 m/s you have a chance of inflicting a decent hit for 3000-6000 hitpoints.

Now it all depends on what ship type your trespasser flies. He simply can't salvage and be efficient at pvp at the same time. Either he is salvager or PvP fitted. You can one shot a salvager.

It is hard to destroy tanked tech 2 PvP boats. Assault frigates, assault cruisers, heavy interdictors - you will never break them with mission fits.

This post sums up why the 'best' work with DCM inc.

WARP DRIVE makes eve boring

really - add warping align time 300% on gun aggression and eve becomes great again

There are other ways in which they can assist their buddy, but only those individuals you have shot at are allowed to return fire. Stealing triggers a corp-wide flag though, so anyone in your corp is allowed to warp in and gank the thief.

it's best IMO to warp out and stay docked for a good 30 minutes.

Once they rep, they won't be neutral anymore.

It was sooo annoying. I really really thought about shooting at them. But, this has happened to me 3 times, and always the person doing it has been active since no less then 2010. I started about 40 days ago. I figure I am very much outskilled and probably would get blasted.

Just move on to another mission, come back and finish this later. Or better yet do your missions in less crowded space.

To be honest the ninja is probably watching out for any of your corp buddies flying in and blasting him! Get your mates in PvP fitted ships and spring the trap!

You are in a corp, which is in an alliance ... and yet you have nobody that's willing to help you ?
What kind of **** corp/alliance is that ?

First answer: no, there's no way for him to get your aggression unless:

-You deliberately target him and shoot him: you're an idiot
-you set auto-targeting (back) above 0 (in witch case you're a noob)

Don't ever bother for these ones, if you don't know what it looks like a single mission with 4 to 6K cargo loot it's even worst. At some point mission wrecks loot could give you an important isk amount and at some point it could be interesting to just shoot the pesky frig and then come back with a pvp ship to kick his arse.
Right now it's not even worthy spend time change ship and loot/salvage with Noctis, the loot amount is so poor and the amount of salvage is so ridiculous that you should leave that to dumb people.

Just shoot red crosses and pick next mission, don't bother looting/salvage, it's completely worthless. Null sec got the final word on this high sec activity, kill red crosses as they kill red crosses, don't spend time looting/salvaging (leave that to idiots/noobs) and move on to the next one.

Great move CCP !
