Raising standing

I have been playing about six months and having fun. In one case maybe too much fun.

I decided to do the SoE epic arc just to check it off my list. Everything was going okay until I got to the part where I have to mission in Amarr space. You see somehow I have managed to acquire a -5.61 standing with Amarr (gulp). So when I try and run the missions there the emporer sends Moose and Rocco to break my legs.

I read that if I run Amarr missions I can bring my standing with that faction below the -5.00 threshold. So I found the closest agent (L1) that would grant me missions. 20+ missions later I am still at about the same standing.

What am I doing wrong? If I am not doing it wrong, what is a better way to increase my standing with Amarr?

There is Faction Standing and Corporation Standing, Faction Standing (which is what you need) will require you to do 16 Amarr Corporation Missions inorder to get a Faction Mission. The Corporation Missions needs to be from different folks too. Also, try to skill up on your Social Skills, most specifically Diplomacy.

Thank you. I have actually been trying to implement The Plan but I made a critical mistake as pointed out above. I was doing corporate missions for an Amaar agent instead of faction missions.

You need to run corp missions, then after 16 you get a storyline mission offered. That storyline is the one that will bump your faction standing

Got it, and thanks! I have to be really close to my 16th mission.

Come on don't tell him how to cheat the system, ok yeah that's the quickest way also for future reference if you want to go into space controlled by the faction opposed to the one your missioning for don't accept kill missions against said faction. I.e. when running mini missions accepting kill Amarr missions.

Always willing to help all you have to do is ask, though if you're in the other fleet I may not help the way you want. Just a heads up. Pub Channel: Lost Souls Trading Post

Train Diplomacy. Yet know it's the last method to fix your situation via just skill training.

Once you have diplomacy, if you continue to run anti-faction missions or become heavily involved in Faction War or run Pirate missions in 0.0 - you can get into situations the Diplomacy skill can not resolve.

^^ will give you a sizable faction increase, which is always handy.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

One level in diplomacy andViola! my standing was above -5.00. Finished the arc, went the Amarr route, trained a couple more levels in diplomacy and I am now at a healthy -3.00 standing with Amarr.

Made me look at social skills in general, and once I have all my subsystems up to 4 I will train my socials up to at least 4.

Thanks all!

While seemingly a newer player/character, you may want to take Social to V if you happen to see yourself likely in the future juggling further standings related issues.

The same goes for the "Fast Talk" skill if you decide to take to a lawless lifestyle involving sec-status losses.

On the other hand [type] Connections skills will likely serve you fine if left at IV for some time.

Be wary of "storyline" missions and Faction War participation. Essentially anything that sees you shooting at faction empire ships or working against the interests of empire factions, will incur standings losses. Eventually you can get locked out of parts of high sec. Which isn't that big of an issue unless you want to visit a trade hub or chase down a pvp target in that particular part of space.
